FEMA is my least favorite. I've been through a few natural disasters and they are non existent and don't even know they are there assisting anyone. They come by and take pictures and are a day late and dollar short. Useless department in my opinion. Would be better to give state funds to use for their relief efforts and stay out of the way.

They were extremely useful during PBurg tornado. Coordinated and paid for removal of debris from the town. Individuals who were trying to get money from them because they were uninsured or their insurance denied their claims didn't always have the greatest experience, but rebuilding would have been harder and taken a lot longer for the community as a whole without FEMA

During family holiday discussions I heard someone say there are 420 government agencies. That would be one hell of a poll.

As for the above IRS is the runaway winner.

Wow, Vivek is right. Look at you guys mocking him because he is preaching against normalcy. I can tell the mediocrity has really consumed your potential earnings as people. Probably because you watched success-boat-anchors like King of the Hill, "Family" Dad (more like unextraordinary father) and Courage The Cowardly Dog. I just hope you guys follow Vivek's advice on how to raise your children and perhaps we can have a future Vivek can envision. No shoes too big.

I second that.

I would say it is the IRS. First of all, they are severely understaffed and slow to respond to questions. This is by ( congressional) design. Secondly, their job is to check America’s arithmetic annually…. and Americans aren’t that good at their cyphering. . Thirdly, they are responsible in contacting tax payers and advising them they (might) have made mistakes and need to verify their deductions with receipts.
Americans hate to have their intelligence questioned… and liars raise hell when they get caught.

I'd imagine the IRS would be., due to the nature of what they do. Almost always, if they contact a citizen it is because the agency believes that person owes money. To make it worse, most people have a fear of the Service that is greatly exaggerated, largely because blatant cheaters who get caught are almost always extremely vocal in complaining, as well as making up BS as to why they got in trouble with the IRS.
The one guy I mentioned earlier, who'd committed tax fraud, was a POS con artist who lived in my area. He made up all manner of BS about how the IRS wronged him, so much so that listening to him at the golf course was what made me decide to look through tax court records to find out what the hell got him a jail sentence. Not surprisingly, the version he told at the golf course was extremely different than what was in the court reports.

Because of the options, I have to say the IRS. The options are loaded as "The Justice Department" covers multiple that are broken out as a stand alone option.

I have the least favorability for the Judicial. Branch and groups. Money and power have always created an imbalance in results, but now more than ever. Between the loading up of of the Supreme Court to the way money can manipulate a career criminal into not being accountable, that is the group I have the least respect for and least faith in now.

FEMA was in our region after Helene the next day and has continued to have a presence.
An out of towner was whining to me the other day about how FEMA was worthless and I told him he was reading the wrong sources.

Another thing that was amazing was the number of aircraft in the skies for many weeks. Cargo planes and choppers, smaller choppers and planes, were on the move 24 hours a day.

Several days after the storm I lost count at 75+ utility trucks coming in from Nova Scotia along a route from the southwest as roads from north, east, west, and south were blocked. Imagine bouncing over 1,500 miles in a utility truck to bring much needed aid to strangers.
The manpower and resources coming in bottled the mind.
Not that FEMA was involved in all efforts, but they were/are a heavy presence. Plenty of private organizations and peeps as well.

Son works for FEMA...has stated a number of times that people either love them or hate them. It is a more dangerous job than people realize.

One of the things both sides of the aisle agree on... FEMA employees are essential enough many (including him) are not impacted during shutdown. They keep working AND getting a paycheck.

Yea, it’s amazing at how little Iowans know about FEMA. My family has had a home in Florida (and NC) for some time now and it’s incredible at the logistics involved in such an undertaking. These FEMA folks are away from home for months at a time, something the naysayers aren’t exactly familiar with, along with the massive logistical challenges involved.
