I get that we are pissed about the Minn ending and eventual loss. It's justified. We got hosed.

But, the Omaha loss set us back BIG TIME! It was a more easily winnable game on our home floor, for God's sake.

Our early defensive issues, coupled with that horrible loss to UNO, are what puts us where we stand today. Losing to a high RPI team on their home floor in double OT doesn't hurt us at all.

We still control our own destiny. (sigh, unless we get more ref jobs) Win out and prosper!!

I know it's a tall tale, but what are we playing for? Our postseason lives!! Fight for your lives!! And f the refs!! Be better than them, too!!

I'm now done with my rah rah portion of my rant.

Guess what, it's a learning process especially on the defensive end. If we restarted the season today with what the players have learned there is no doubt in my mind we would make the tourney, but you can't just act like this team should have been playing this way out of the gate. We were young and it cost us some games at the beginning of the year. People are going to drive themselves crazy with the what ifs. All I know is this team is fun to watch and will be even more fun to watch next year when we're not trying force feed the ball to our injured star player. This team still has a great chance in the BIG tourney IMO. As long as we see postseason basketball of any kind I'll be happy.

Cook was also injured and did not play against Omaha.

I want this team to make the NCAA's, because I want them to get enough wins to qualify. But, I'd rather have them in the NIT than be the last team in to the Big Dance and get squashed by a #1 seed. A deep run in the NIT could do a lot for this young team.

This team has responded more when Cook and Jok went down.

I'm not suggesting that we're better without them. We discovered that we became more resourceful while they were out. Integrating them into what I would consider to be our best teamwork has been a challenge. And IMO, we still haven't found our best rotations or steadiest rotations yet.

"What ifs" aside, and knowing what the team knows about itself, go forward playing your most intelligent basketball.

We've got shooters. Let them shoot the ball. Others should defer and find other means.

Feed the post every time down the floor. That's where we have the most depth and good depth.

Assimilate what our best defensive efforts have been all season. Don't try to do what you're not strong at.

This team has to sharpen itself for the B1G tourney. Every team will be doing the same.

Romantically, we always talk of the Hawks being a strong team that no one will want to face in the tourney. Realistically, we fall on our faces, most of the time. Almost always have. Other than Alford's greatest accomplishments while at Iowa, we stink. This team can set itself up for real future success with a strong showing, whether they're playing for postseason seeding or next year.

They would be a 12ish seed if they made the dance.. playing a 5 which would be like playing St. Mary's!

If we were above the bubble right now Minny loss wouldn't hurt us much, but we needed a quality road win to move toward the bubble, which we are currently way below

Minnesota. Much rather play in NCAA than NIT even if it means fewer games.

The Nebraska loss hurt a lot. If we had that one and the Minny game it's a different season.
