Based on HROT history it is known that many of our resident liberals are either government workers or on government benefits. (not criticizing - just saying) Most people vote with their pocketbook as they say.

And thus, of those libs that aren't on state aid or a government worker - what do you do for a living? And for what type of organization? I'm curious to see if there is any trend.

I am PROUD to say "I AM!"
Social Security and MediCare......I paid into them for over 45 years and Muteo, if you have a problem with it, I couldn't be happier! You just keep working and paying those TAXES! Just know, I am benefitting. THank-you Jeeeeebus!
Remember Muteo....keep voting for the Democrat and the gravy train will continue!

I am paid for a service I provide to my community, just like anyone else with a job. Hardly the "government dole".

How is working for a government being, "on the dole"? Firefighters, police officers?

Now Muteo, would you included businesses and corporation receiving federal/state dollars, tax incentives, forgiveable loans and free infrastructure deals in this question? If so.....I would bet 90+% of us "are on the dole" from the government.
I don't understand your angst here......or really, your point.

Why not include gov't workers like me who lean right?
I do think it would be an interesting exercise to ask the same thing of our rightes - in another thread of course. I'm curious as to what difference we will see among the HROT partisans.

Oh, by the way Muteo...I just cashed my SS check last Wednesday....Thank-you very much! Keep paying those taxes buddy boy. ;)

I hope it was large enough. To be safe I think we should raise your benefits and muteo's tax burden.

The faster the baby boomers leave this dimension...the better off we will all be. The most selfish and untrustworthy generation of our time.
Absolutely....and damned proud of it! We have been on the gravy train our entire existence and plan to stay that way...'cause now we have folks in power! Plus SEC.....you have given me another reason to keep on livin' off others! "most selfish"......"untrustworthy".....words for me to live by! I think I'll use them in my eulogy. Of course, I will give you proper credit. BTW.....you can send $$ to Planned Parenthood for my memorial.
Most "selfish" and "untrustworthy".......ha!ha!ha!ha! WE got you!

Times like this I wish your mamma would've swallowed!

Awesome. Thanks for the info - we have our first poster stepping forward. By the way - are you a union member?
No, the URW launched a final campaign in 79 and 80. They spent a lot to try to get us to unionize and was beaten by about a 3 to 1 margin. It was their last effort. It is really hard to get support to unionize in a place like Nebraska. It also is very well known that the reason that the plant was moved to Nebraska in the first place was to break the Union plant in Delaware. Our plant would have been closed down years ago had we unionized and we'd be having a whole different conversation today.

Since you are non union, how do you feel you are treated?

Interesting. The only reason I asked is to see if there was a specific characteristic about your job/career/situation that leads you to vote democrat. Seems to me you can guess a person's political leaning purely by career choice/situation a great majority of the time. But of course there are a certain percentage of people who are truly just social issue voters.

My salary comes through a combination of funds: U of Iowa (hospital, college of medicine), NIH grants, philanthropic organizations (FOE, Kiwanis, McDonnell).

Pretty well actually. IMHO the biggest need for Unions in the first place was for safe working conditions. OSHA made great strides in eliminating the need for Unions in the roll. Now the extreme cost of medical care for workman's comp cases has taken safety concerns for Employers to a level beyond what unions or the government ever could have.
We all wish we had better pay. Who doesn't? But the fact remains, I've raised 6 kids in a safe community on what I've earned there. I got some retirement saved up and will do OK. I've got more say in my own process then most management does. We actually self manage our cells. I really can't complain much.

Do you mind me asking what type of manufacturing specifically?
