Perhaps this has been addressed in a thread among so many threads lately... but just want to hear your thoughts.

In my opinion, you need to gash MSU's d-line with speed. So I would go Akrum Wadley, if his health is up to snuff.

Same as always. Daniels. I think Wadley was held out of Nebraska game so he would be healthy for Saturday. I think Canzeri and Wadley will end up with the majority of carries and hopefully there will be lots of them.

Not sure what was wrong with Daniels against Nebraska, maybe it was the weather but he seemed like he didn't even wanna turn up field a few times. Still remember what he did against minny though, he can be effective against a lot of defenses but i think Canzeri and Wadley will be more effective against msu.

Daniels looked like he was running tentatively last week - the same way he looked when he first hurt his ankle. He's not going to get many carries if he runs the same way this weekend.

I don't care who carries the ball, as long as we run the ball a lot. This is a nice problem to have compared to years past.

I care. Canzeri and Wadley please. Daniels can come in when they need a breather. I like Daniels just fine, but he's not a game breaker, the other 2 most definitely are.

JC will get 75% of the carries, at least. Even new Kirk will simply not feel comfortable with AW in a game like this. If JC is effective and doesn't get dinged up he will play every snap unless it's a long drive where he needs a break. Maybe Daniels starts one drive.

Canzeri will get the start. However, I think Wadley ends up with the most carries. IMHO the way to beat MSU is to attack their DBs as their strength is in the front 7. Canzeri has a nice second gear if he gets a nice hole and a head of steam. Wadley on the other hand can bounce those same plays much faster and get to the outside kicking it into an even higher gear. Also, Daniels fumble last week probably put him in the doghouse. I also agree that KF was saving Wadley for this game knowing that we would need speed against either OSU or MSU.

Maybe new Kirk will coach like we have nothing to lose in this game. I only remember Wadley fumbling 1 time this year. Canzeri the same on considerably more carries. That doesn't mean Wadley will fumble it any more now. More likely? Maybe, but you can't not play a person with that skill unless you see it lots in practice. He'll be in, and I think he'll be carrying the ball depending on game performance.

Last time I looked, MSU's and Iowa's defense were about equal in takeaways for the the year. We were better at INTs, MSU better at fumble recoveries. Would love to see Wadley get 15 carries and hope he squeezes the football

I've seen enough of Daniels to know he shouldn't be the starter. This is too important of a game to try to get him going just to watch him dance around.
While I know what you're saying, it comes off as a slight to Daniels. I just don't believe he's 100% when he's dancing, and I don't believe he's been 100% most of the year. I like Daniels, I just feel this game will suit canzeri/wadley better. Daniels will be the guy when we're sitting on a 14 pt. lead in the 4th quarter:).

I never heard an official injury report for Wadley during the Nebraska game. Did Kirk ever say that Wadley was held out due to health?

My guess is that if Canzeri and Daniels are both healthy (which I question after seeing Daniels last week), then Wadley probably won't get many touches, especially if we get an early lead. I still don't know that the coaching staff trusts Wadley not to fumble.

However, if we get down early, I hope to see Wadley. Canzeri may be our best overall RB because he is so well-rounded, but Wadley is a dynamic game-changing runner. As good as our offensive line is, I still think they'll struggle to get a push up front. We'll need our RB's to create yards out of bad situations, and I think Wadley is the most capable of making something out of nothing.

I am with those who want to see some Wadley. I think Kirk has pretty much gone with the hot hand in most games and think that will continue. If Mitchell plays I would like to see him get even just one carry. It is pretty predictable that he will be in that it will be a pass play. He is good in protection and receiving the ball, but I think even just one run can help with the predictability.

Canzeri, then Daniels.

MSU D is physical & ball-hawking. I doubt we see Wadley all that much. JC & LD better suited for grinding out yardage.

Holes to run through might be a rare thing on Saturday night.

Mitchell on 3rd & long.

Having ankle issues can really creep up when its cold outside. I broke my ankle in high school and still when it gets cold outside, It hurts walking/running at times. Im not saying that is 100% what was wrong with Daniels, but he did not look like his explosive self last Friday. I would assume that could of been part of the problem.

As always, it's more on the O-line than the backs, BUT I really like Canzeri and Wadley in this one, but if Daniels is healthy, he has shown explosiveness, too, and Mitchell has tremendous upside, just not as much experience.

I think the key is for Iowa to come out throwing and relying on CJ in play action. Loosen them up with the pass, THEN work in the run. The Hawkeyes need to throw on first down. Get Sparty on their heels. And when we do run, misdirection would be awesome.

Please, KF and GD, PLEASE have an intelligent, aggressive, somewhat unexpected game plan. Get Sparty out of their comfort zone from the git-go. Do that, and the who's at RB doesn't matter so much. But I do believe Wadley could have a game like he had at NW.

Play to win, coaches, and you will.

So many options; Yes, DMX has really come on as a 3rd down guy. He should get the rock a few times, also. Maybe even Macon Plewa for a TD !!

IOWA will need both Plewa and Cox tomorrow night.....I'm not sure if they'll get any carries but a lead blocker makes a huge difference.

Agreed, there was one time where he hesitated and damn near didn't get the first down when it should have been an easy run forward to get it. I want to see him keep his feet moving forward when he shifts around, something Canzeri does very well.
