Assuming there are no major surprises (Clemson over SMU would be the only thing that might shake it up). Who should get the last at-large slot?

I’m guessing it will be bama but hoping it’s not.
I just want to see bama fans lose their shit. It will be like the libtards on nov 6.

11-2 SMU is the only possibility for the last at-large spot other than Alabama.

Arguments both ways, but I have a hard time believing the committee would pick a johnny-come-lately team with zero quality wins on the season over Alabama.

Can anyone give a good reason for 10-2 Miami over 9-3 Alabama that is not "they have 1 fewer loss/1 more win"?

Alabama has 3 wins against opponents currently ranked int the CFP. They have 1 loss to ranked teams.
Miami has 0 wins against opponents currently ranked int the CFP. They have 0 losses to ranked teams.

Alabama has 18th overall strength of schedule.
Miami has 55th overall strength of schedule.

Yah, imagine half the country upset because morons like you elected the worst president in US history, a convicted felon, the guy who incited a riot that left people dead and that threatened to hang the vice president, a sex pervert, a pathological liar--"The immigrants are eating the pets!"--a neo-Nazi, a sociopath, a guy who ran six of his businesses into bankruptcy--including three casinos--a guy who told people not to wear masks or get vaccinated to stop a pandemic, but to drink bleach instead . . . A guy who loves Hitler and who promises to be a dictator. A guy who can't recite a single Bible verse but who's selling the book for $1,000 a pop. Yah, why would normal, decent people be upset about that?

You insane cultists are beyond reach. I'm hoping you all get everything you deserve.

Army should be in. After they beat Navy next week they'll be 12-1, with the only loss to Notre Dame.

If Boise is in with a bye, don't tell me a 12-1 Army team shouldn't make the field. Remember: You can only beat the teams you play, and Army has done that with the lone exception being @ ND. If Boise's weak, weak schedule doesn't matter, why should Army's schedule matter? Put the Black Knights into the playoff. It's tough to win every week. We know that because KF says so.

If 9-3 Alabama, who recently got tromped by a terrible Oklahoma team, gets in ahead of Army, the ISU-ASU loser, Miami, and South Carolina, then once again we will see that it's not the resume but the name on the jersey that matters. But just like for the NCAA basketball tournament, the powers that be will spin it like a whirling dervish. But the facts will remain the facts. And the fact is, if Bama wanted in, all they had to do was beat EITHER Vanderbilt OR a weak Oklahoma team. They couldn't do either one. They don't deserve squat.

I would be in favor of Army getting into the playoff at 12-1 as the 5th conference champ over 10-3 Clemson (ACC gets shut out). But, they would HAVE to beat Navy, and that game doesn’t happen for another week, so even if the Committee is considering that, I don’t know how they’d handle it….

l like the idea of ARMY in but dogging on Boise is weak. They lost to Oregon by 3. ARMY was clobbered by Notre Dame.

Those of you that voted option #5, wanna change your vote?

Navy fan here, don't count your chickens before they hatch!

Loser of ISU/ASU? Lolz - they’re lucky their winner is even getting in
ASU made a decent case today by destroying the clones. They've been the hot team in the conference. That said, those votes must have come from some or clone "friends" that hang out here.

Why does Indiana get a pass then? They got clobbered in their only game as well. (I voted other)

So you say yes or no to Indiana? tough call. They played a B1G schedule and both of last year's Finals teams. They also blew out most of their opponents. I think they deserve a bid

I say yes if Army also gets a bid. And yes to keep 3 loss teams out. Last years finals teams are shells of last years teams. Army also gets bonus points for doing what they have with the constraints placed on their athletes.

And Alabama was clobbered by a weak Oklahoma team and ALSO lost to Vanderbilt. But do you think the committee gives a damn? LOL

Alabama will be in while more deserving teams are pushed aside, as always.

The College Football Playoff is a misnomer: It should be called The Alabama Football Invitational.

3 of the 5 projections (guesses) I saw had SMU in over Alabama. One had 'bama. That would mean 4 B1G and 3 SEC. Some people aren't gonna like that.
ASU with a bye? System needs to be tweaked. They're not even top 10.

I don't get the 3 loss thing. What if everyone has 3 losses? Just cancel it that year?

I would be happy to see Indiana get in but their metrics aren't favorable. Their opponents were a collective .424 (only Memphis was worse among the CFP T25). They only played one T25 team and lost badly. The only teams they beat that finished .500 or better are Nebby, Washington, and Michigan (their best win).

I think the idea is that there are other teams that don't have 3 losses...especially when you look at 2 of those losses for Bama. If the projections are close...Indiana is in. It comes down to Alabama or SMU for the 12th slot.

Beacon voters get it right with 56% picking Miami or SMU. (still wanna know who the 5 idiots are that said big 12 runner up)

I stand corrected. Alabama is a NO. SMU is a YES. That's great. I am pleasantly shocked that some degree of fairness has slipped into this process. I'd still like to see Army in the field, and Power 4 conference champions should be automatic qualifiers, but they should NOT automatically get a first-round bye. The rules and process remain flawed, but less so than I had expected, so that's good.

And may I say, Roll Tide into your big bowl game. ;)
