I have to admit that is one of the few things that make me cringe when I read. I was taught that you get a pin or a fall. The two words together (I can't even bring myself to type it) is what the guys in the WWF get. A bunch of my favorite posters use that term. I have learned to skim over it.

Now that Christmas all the cuddling is over, can we get back to some Hawkeyes rippin' some arms off at Midlands. I nearly started drinking again reading that crap. I found myself hanging out at the local Kootenai river bridge looking for trouble. Sheesh!
How do people in the World Wildlife Federation get a pinfall? That is more a WWE type of thing. Lol

I like how it took them something like 20 years to take them to court. I remember when the NWA was the the big league of professional wrestling with characters like Baron Von Raschke and the Crusher running around doing their thing. My brother was constantly putting "the claw" on me. Hell, I even remember when it was the WWWF (World Wide Wrestling Federation).
The pinfall is actually a reference to slapping the mat 3 times. When the shoulders are pinned to the mat for a three count, then a fall occurs or pinfall. If you only get one or two slaps it is a nearfall. Professional wrestling on an Iowa board.
I think the Midlands really needs to start!!!
I've scored a pinfall on a cougar or 2. Luckily I can say the same about a few foxes. Sadly, there's also been a heifer and a dog or twelve.

Or states. How in the fk do they think states is correct? You wrestle in one state tournament. You win the state tournament. Winning states sounds like a national tournament.
Guilty as charged. I use "pinfall" mostly b/c it doubly good. It's both a pin and a fall ! And it makes me feel old. If I thought it was really supporting WWE, I'd stop using it. So, do you have strong feelings about the PBP when a wrestler employs a "whizzard" ?

Your PBPs are awesome. If I miss a match I read through the whole thing as if it is happening live. Wizard is classic Ironside. I really don't care if you put pin and fall together. I'm just shootin the breeze here.

I always dismissed it as a silly east coast thing until someone noted you wrestle at sectionals and districts, not sectional and district, so why isn’t it states as well? So I decided to let that one go.
Kids wrestling at multiple districts and sectionals end up at the one state tournament.
While you only wrestle in one sectional and district tournament there are multiple sections and districts. There is only one state tournament. I think that Iowa is unique because making it to state in wrestling (at least in my high school back in the good old days) was a way bigger deal then making any kind of post season competition in any other sport.
Anyone who says "whizzard" instead of whizzer lol I m ready for Midlands.
