Let's be clear, there is no requirement to hold such a vote. So Trump and his lemmings are lying when they say there is.

OTOH, there probably will be a formal impeachment vote at some point. So why isn't Nancy holding that vote now - to put this faux complaint to rest?

Seems obvious that Nancy wants to wait for more of Trump's support to erode. If the vote is 100% partisan, that plays into Trump's framing of impeachment as a purely political coup attempt.

So . . . that's why Team Trump is trying to force an early vote. Not because it's required but because they want the vote to look totally partisan.

Be patient, Nancy.

Are you sure about that?

I think they just want House members on record with their vote for impeachment. It will come in handy come election time when a Dem in a Trump district can be shown to have voted for impeachment.

The problem for Trump is the more he stonewalls, the easier an obstruction case is to make. I'd like to think the American people want the law respected regardless of your political party. If Trump is innocent, then let people speak and exonerate him. If you're not, then what do you have to hide?

Imagine if Hillary told State Dept personnel to refuse to speak in the investigations into Benghazi and refused herself to sit and talk with investigators the right's heads would have exploded.

Dems already have enough to impeach. However, the new Ukraine scandal deserves to be investigated to determine the depths of Trump's crimes. Waiting for all the facts to come out is definitely the route we need to take.

Salient point. Which is why uncovering the depths of Trump's corruption is imperative.

Is it? As is said the coverup is going to be the bigger crime. Yes the POTUS is a moron and was trying to get something from Ukraine, but the refusal to follow the law and obstruct the investigation is going to be just as damaging to him.

I think it's that. Force the Dems in conservative districts to go on record.

Yea ! Why have any rules?
Lets just have a coup !

Umm this is the rules. There is no requirement to begin the inquiry. The only requirement is that in order to actually impeach you need a majority in the house.

The person who is not following the rules is the president who is required to let congress exercise it's oversight function.

Maybe if McConnell had taken a giant dump on any precedent that ever existed Democrats my give two f***s about what the GOP wants right now.

Although these people not showing up for subpoena's need to be thrown in jail. None of us would avoid that if we skipped a court hearing.

It's going to be a bitch for Republicans one day when the political numbers are reversed. These stances and comments will be thrown in their collective faces.

Hell... even when the comments from the GOP are brought up from the Clinton impeachment hearings, they remain silent.

2020 election will be about complicity in corruption. Those elections in "purple" States/Districts will force them to justify their inactions.

They will say "Fake News!!" and their supporters will believe them. Or just completely ignore them. The same way they do about all the comments they made supporting impeachment for Clinton.

It's because Democrats are always in a defensive crouch. It's incredibly irritating. If they lead, the people will follow, not the other way around, Republicans understand this.

Those Democrats in supposedly Trump districts were freaking elected as a check on Trump, not because of health care or what the hell ever else. If they go on record with a vote for an impeachment inquiry it will make them more likely to win reelection, not less.
