Why are states/locals and government agencies still using Twitter/X?

Ever since Elon moved the platform to the blue check nonsense and made you register to view tweets, I can’t view updates from local government agencies.

Why do they continue to communicate emergency updates by a platform that not everybody uses?

No, but I think a lot of agencies use Twitter almost exclusively for breaking updates. Mainly talking weather and law enforcement.
