Why does a South African nazi get to decide what to do with Americans social security

Explain how he is ACTIVELY trying to cut benefits?
He had ZERO to do with the way the government poached funds from the SS reserves. The man has only been a DOGE dude for like a month.
Do you seriously believe this crap?
How do I know what he is ACTIVELY trying to do? I just read the “reports” coming out about his suggestions. What is your insider knowledge?
You really trust this guy with your money?

Your speaker of the house has discussed it, goldmom. Have you simply ignored the multiple times Republican members of Congress have talked about cutting SS and Medicaid? Google it. It’s not the democrats. It’s your party and if you think Trump, who you say is awful, and the billionaires he is appointing don’t want even more of our money I don’t know what to tell you. Sometimes I think you’re the least intelligent SMART person on the board. My point is that you should be able to figure this out.

Shadow enablers. Tell me you haven’t read up on this and remained so up to date that you know these things?
How about a link enumerating the actual powers granted to a quasi governmental group that won’t even truly exist until after January 20th?
Sounds like you buy into conspiracy theories, no need to continue this discussion anymore.

I’m for cutting back the number of senior officers who walk around leaning forward from the weight of “brass” on their uniforms- having done little to advance their careers aside from honing their ability to throw great cocktail parties given by their ambitious and politically savvy wives. If a third of them retired and took their bloated staffers with them it would lighten the load at the Pentagon and at big ops bases like MacDill in Tampa.
The DOD Budget should be refocused on building defense capabilities for this century Incorporating the latest and best technology.
Well that’s a tremendously ignorant post. But on brand for you.

The unelected “billionaires” with limited powers of action will NOT be deciding the size of my SS check.
Hopefully you all know that - but maybe the bots don’t. I know the weeping and gnashing of teeth won’t stop but at some point the country moves on.
WTHeck?

I’m gonna bookmark this post and laugh with glee when it all happens.

Burn it all down.

Well, you are experienced at ignorance so I guess I should take this remark seriously.
First time for everything, huh?
🤔
Yeah, sure.
I can’t (wait, yes I can) believe you are trusting that drump appointees are going to protect you and your kid’s economic future.
He is the modern robber baron and will suck every bit of your economic future that is available.
Why would you possibly trust that crowd? They depend on you to support them in the big lie.

Google it. Your reply once again shows you have zero desire to learn facts. GOOGLE IT. They have said MULTIPLE times they want to look at cutting SS. Or legitimately CUT IT. Don’t try to act cute when you choose willful ignorance. Damn, woman.

We’re REALLY supposed to believe her when she says she didn’t vote for him. She believes everything he and his buddies tell her. Insane.

Republican voters need to ask themselves, “Do I trust people who prefer to cut SS for middle class Americans and lower taxes for billionaires or is that backwards?”

Top 2% are paying 67%. Sounds fair to me.
Hahaha. Trump paid $750 in taxes, in a year that I paid $350.

I live on a fixed income. This, in and of itself, is a joke. And that, my friends is what is going on.

Goldmom, I think you need to talk to a tax attorney off the record to find out what’s been going on, and what will happen in the future.

Maybe visit with some long time residents of NYC, including white shoe attorneys. They can explain it.

I live on a fixed income just like you do and you know that. We’ve known each other for a number of years. Long time NYC residents - you mean the ones who haven’t been able to move to Florida yet?
Trump is just one person - and his company has always been private, thus not subject to shareholder approval for anything. He’s not the typical CEO or President. Not a great example.
Frankly I’m a little surprised because you know my background and my husband’s business successes as a very senior executive-I’m not unsophisticated in such matters.
The continuing insistence about tax cuts “for the rich” is almost sad - does the left truly think that or do they just hope the great unwashed are still falling for it?
Bottom line the top 2% in this country still pay nearly 67% of taxes. Including the highly compensated “white shoe” attorneys in NYC…maybe we should ask John Morgan…does he own any white shoes??
🙄

Why do you believe Trump, Elon and, Vivek? You can’t stand Trump, remember? Why do you think those 3 are looking out for our best interests? Have you googled Republicans want to cut social security and medicaid yet? If no, why TF are you posting on the subject??

Well I’m experienced in recognizing it. Which is why you stand out.
I grew up on military bases and have senior officers in my family, none got to their station by throwing parties.

Let me explain it one…more…time.
I didn’t vote for either candidate but I remain a conservative Republican. The election is over.
At this point I don’t really care what you believe.

Thirty years ago…and not at the Pentagon.
PS I also have a current senior officer (he just put in for retirement after 20+ years) in my close family- not at the Pentagon either.
I think that many who have military relatives or who grew up in military towns (like I did) and know lots of retired officers understand that the ranks of “the brass” are bloated and the halls of the Pentagon are full of strutting senior officers who could be whittled down without being missed.

You and I do not like each other - nor do we respect each other. I’ve ignored your posts and give you your space. I suggest you do your best to accord me the same.

My brother retired 30 years ago? And didn’t work in the pentagon? Dad wasn’t at the pentagon for 5 years? Wow, the things I learn about my family when you shine your boomer wisdom down on me !

I thought you said you “grew up in a military family” and you did - I knew your father was military but did not know your brother was as well.
I was not aware your father was at the Pentagon - I just knew you lived in Texas because that’s what you’ve said previously.
I stand by my opinion of the overstaffed and top heavy current status of the Pentagon.

Now you struck a bad nerve with me in speaking of the top brass. That’s how I grew up, with heroes and spooks.

You’re talking about my family and friends.

Don’t get me started on the military. My family has been in every war in this country. My relatives have been POWs. My dad was a test pilot.

it would take too much time to explain military life to someone who didn’t live it.

Good for you - and many thanks for your family’s service.
My Dad enlisted on his 18th birthday and landed at Normandy. He barely escaped death in the Battle of the Bulge. My brother is an Air Force veteran and three nephews have served in the Navy. Volunteered. No draft.
I went to high school with several Naval officers kids, including the daughter of an Admiral.
You and I attended FSU when some of our classmates had Dads who were senior officers - some were in Vietnam on active duty. High school classmates who enlisted after graduation and were wounded or were KIA.
Our generation grew up when EVERYONE had family and friends who served. My Dad had PTSD until the day he died and no one knew what that was back then.

For some reason you all think I’m trashing the military and frankly it’s just really phucking stupid to get worked up over a deliberate refusal to see what I’m saying.
I’m not attacking anyone’s family or the military in general.
I’m saying that the Pentagon could retire several senior officers who walk around trying hard at looking busy and that’s not efficient. If you weren’t trying to trash everything because you hate how things turned out in the election you’d probably agree and you know it.

And you base that opinion on what? Did you work there? Did your kids? Did they witness people get ahead by throwing parties?

There are lots of ways to succeed in the military and not all are based on skill, but none are because of throwing parties.

Well you and I know what was expected. The dining ins the dining outs.

We used to schedule our night time forays into the O club pool because we knew where the parental unit was and for how long.

A classmate’s dad was the O club manager and would tell him, “now keep your friends from raising a ruckus in the pool tonight “

As opposed to trusting the corrupt bureaucrats who created the mess? Yep damn right I'm willing to try. If a bunch of criminals come ransack your house and burn it to the ground, are to going to hire them to rebuild it? Of course not.
You mean like huge tax cuts for the wealthiest who are the demographic most able to fill that budgetary deficit painlessly?

I completely agree, terrible policy and completely unsustainable. If the wealthy were actually paying their fair share we’d be in a much bettter place fiscally, no question. It’s not even debatable.
The billionaires in the US couldn't fund our deficit for 6 months if we confiscated all their wealth. The fair share rhetoric is ridiculously played out. It's time to fix the root cause which is why those who got us in this mess are freaking out.
