They can't help questioning everything Kirk and the staff do regarding recruiting and portal activity.

I trust our coaches to know how to properly vet players for fit, skill set and academics (yes, they still are students). NIL also is a component, Iowa's NIL is probably $1 - $2M. Verses many schools spending 10X that amount. Not sure you want to be the highest bidder for alot of the players. They could be just looking for the dollars. Are those players thinking team first or me first?

Looking at many of the media types, I question if they've every played the game.

Final thought, you need to let younger players - play and develop. Development programs can't loose their identity. I think that has happened at Wisconsin.

Some stuff reporters ask is bush league.

But I personally want them grilling our coaches about use of NIL funds. It’s money that us fans are providing. If they expect us to keep contributing, the coaches sure as sh*t better have an answer for how they’re spending the money.

It's more important to be first than right, that's media in a nutshell anymore.

When your offense sucks, you're going to draw some heat. That said, KFz has it pretty easy compared to a lot of Top 25 programs.

I would actually commend the media for how well they handled the Brian Ferentz situation. Literally any other place in the country, and it would have been a disaster.

What is the media going to report on if not things to get attention.

Imagine an article about Kirk taking his granddaughter to Build a Bear and seeing Ricky Stanzi there and then having a grand day. Everyone was happy and Ricky told Kirk his son is playing really good for the twelve and under league.

Too much competition for information sources. Since they are no longer able to be the first to report news, media has all taken the shock jock mentality to get views, clicks, likes etc
Disagree …They ask questions that many others are asking. Tgey gave a duty to their readership to ask questions…softball and controversial. They have a duty to question. At times however, I think some reporters don’t know when to back-off. Local reporters and best writers need to “dig” for stories…The Register’s Tom ( the shovel) Witkowski from the old days was absolutely the best… and could report on scandals be them political or sports related.

Unasked question
‘Is there any thought given to changing your coordinator access to the media policy or are you content to make Petras answer questions every week instead of the coordinator in charge?’
