Why hasn't Cruz or Rubio introduced a declaration of war against ISIS?

Lots of tough tough talk, but no one willing to declare war. Christie said we were in WWIII just the other day.

The thing is; they won't do anything different than Obama is doing and they know it. No one wants to send troops in.

Talk talk talk talk talk....enough already. I can't stand posers.

Probably for the same reasons that we have not formally had a declaration of war since WW2 even thou we have been fighting somewhere just about the whole time.

Why would a declaration of war automatically mean sending in troops? Wasn't someone in the administration just saying that Congress should declare?

A declaration of war would essentially justify ISIS's claims that it is a state. Those of them captured fighting could then no longer be considered to be terrorists and they would have to be treated as POW's.

Terrorists can be punished as criminals. POW's can not.

So its not really a war then. So, lets drop the war rhetoric.

ehh it is and it isn't. Depends on how you define war. If your definition of war includes state actors then it's not a war.

If you just define it by armed conflict between two groups then it is.

Worldwide though in my experience formal declarations of war are only made between state actors.

You mean like drawing a red line? Tough talk like that? "Assad must go"? Like that? Last I checked Assad is still there, slaughtering hundreds of thousands of citizens.

Oh I agree on that. Berries blew it. Now no one even cares if he stays or goes though. He looks better now that he is fighting ISIS too. There are Kurds there including the PKK who we have labled as a terrorist group in the past. Who are the enemies? Today's friend is tomorrow's enemy it seems. What a mess. I hate the simplistic BS rhetoric because Rubio or Cruz or Bush has no better plan than Obama. I have a plan: Lets get the hell out once and for all.

The whole thing about declaring war then is an anachronism because its unlikely we will ever be in that type of conflict again. Its just a series of continuing resolutions of funding....and lives....

Of course, Nixon basically ran a hidden campaign in Laos and saturation bombing of North Vietnam including having flight records falsified.
