Petras isn't even in the two deeps this week for MN.If Padilla isn't starting against Minnesota I've given up on KF. It is so F'ing obvious who the starter should be.
If Petras starts and plays the game Iowa loses. Simple as that. They will lose.

“The lounge”Hey @torbee, you need to go check out what I asked you and CID in the Lounge.
Ferentz says he expects Alex Padilla to continue to compete for the starting job even when Spencer Petras is 100% healthy. “We’d love to have both guys back and healthy.”
KF hates a QB controversy. If Padilla performs and wins big this weekend, I'll be surprised if we see Petras start another game in 2021, barring injury.Ferentz says he expects Alex Padilla to continue to compete for the starting job even when Spencer Petras is 100% healthy. “We’d love to have both guys back and healthy.”
Translation - if Padilla plays well, it's his job to lose. IMO. Padilla somewhat reminds me of Chuck Hartlieb, not a strong arm but appears very accurate. He also may have a Hartlieb trait where he is not great at practices.
Thank you Jesus!Petras isn't even in the two deeps this week for MN.

My B-I-L is a huge Badger fan....and an ex HS basketball coach. He used to marvel at the criticism the Ryan took as Badger coach because of “his style” of play. Instead of enjoying the tremendous success their team experienced, many would seemingly rather lost games 91-88 than win games 67-62.I think for some people enjoyment/satisfaction is highly correlated with wins and losses but is not the only factor.
Our offense is not all that entertaining to watch, even when it's operating with "success" that often means ball control, field position, eating clock, etc.
No complaints about the defense from an effectiveness perspective, or entertainment when you factor in our ability to generate turnovers. There are times though where the bend but don't break style can be frustrating when teams like Northwestern or Purdue have their quarterbacks dialed in with well disciplined attacks.
No issues with special teams, certainly not an area to be disappointed or lacks "entertainment".
Kind of reminds me of Wisconsin basketball a bit under Ryan, or even VA basketball. The results need to justify the style, because the style leaves a lot to be desired. If you're not a fan of Iowa or their opponent, I can't imagine there's all that much interest in watching our games. I'm not some Big 12 air raid fan that only likes offense, I appreciate good defense and special teams, but our offense is incredibly inept in execution and scheme.
Factor in the #2 ranking and pie in the sky expectations and it's no wonder some people are not so cheery even after a win.
TL;DR@torbee
If you want a comparison, look at it this way.
Let's say you work a job where you make $80,000 a year. You work hard, you're always on time, you have a good rapport with your clients, and you've had that same job for about 6 years now. But for some reason, that's about all the higher you can seem to get in your company.
So you go along with it. You think, well it is what it is, and the money is good, so I won't do anything to jeopardize that.
Then you come to find out one day, that not only should you have earned a pay raise, like several other of your fellow employees, to make up to as much as $120,000 a year, but that you should've had that at least 3-4 years ago.......but your company doesn't plan on making any changes for you any time soon.
I'm sure you'd just continue being satisfied with what you have, and not be irritated in the slightest.......because a "win is a win" after all.
Regarding Iowa, many fans (and not just within the fanbase either.....I'm talking nationally, too) are finally becoming wise to the fact that Iowa has had a top 10 worthy defense for the last several years, including the last 4 in particular............and they are often held back by an offense that regularly ranks in the bottom third of all of college football in most important categories statistically.
And it's wearing thin on more and more people.
And I'm more in tune with this wasting of talent, as I put it earlier, because the exact same issue is going on with the Vikings........except they're actually gonna fire Mike Zimmer and most likely their OC, and possibly Rick Spielman, their GM as well, by the end of the season at the very latest.
But why should they? The Vikings, despite their 3-5 record (in which 7 of their 8 games were decided on the game's final possession) have a good to great roster, a playoff capable roster, and they can still make the playoffs, as they are capable of most years under Mike Zimmer (in fact, Zimmer has taken the Vikings to the playoffs in every odd year he's been coach, thus far......)
Why should the Vikings risk trading that for having to go through a potentially long and arduous rebuild that may never pay off?
P.S. And I'll tell you why.....
Because f*** Wisconsin, that's why.....
**** Wisconsin?
