I think sometime in the near future we need to build that athletes dorm that some of the blue bloods have now. That is what we compete against. Kentucky practically houses the basketball team in their own private 5 star luxury hotel with 24 hour room service.

I pray that is not what we want, need or ever have.

It was talked about buillding a dorm for athletes closer to the facilities, but they have rules that so many of the rooms have to go to non-athletes.

Isn't there quite a bit of wooded area by the golf course? They could literally have dorms on the golf course.

This kind of stuff is exactly why slowly but surely my passion for college sports is diminishing. It has become an arms race between programs and the win at all costs attitude has grown weary.
This plus the reports of death threats against officials makes me wonder where it all ends...? Sad really...

To love college sports, which I pretty much do, I have to look past a lot of what goes on. With the intense competition and the $$ involved from TV, shoe companies, etc. there is probably more dirty business than I really want to know. Do all these great recruiting coaches get the top players year after year just because of their charming personalities?

And at Kentucky, many of those non-athletes are team managers.

IMO when Carver is due for on upgrade they should strongly consider removing the roof and putting a Thunderdome cage on top and let the die hard's hang from roof.

Agreed. I had to hold my nose watching North Carolina (the king of Academic Fraud) win the national championship

Ever listen to an Alabama player being interviewed post game? Compare that to an Iowa player being interviewed.

Spoiler alert: Someone hacked Hooper's account-'cause that can't be him tonight, he's smarter than that.

I'd bet you know the answer to your question.

At Kentucky all the dorms are nice, Wildcat lodge is really nice as far as dorms go but nothing like a 5 star luxury hotel.

While it may be a little out of character for him, he is right. Kind of, if you can't beat them, might as well join them so you can be competitive with them.

Also. While I agree with some of the other posters about the dirtiness of college athletics and the business of it, there is also the other side of who is the beneficiary of all this money. It isn't these amateur athletes that everyone wants to expose, and nobody wants to pay. Odd. It is the shoe companies, the universities, the conferences, NCAA, television networks, etc.......

Not saying there isn't shady business going on with these amateurs, but why shouldn't they get a little extra benefit with their own dorm?

It's that we don't win enough for the top kids to want to come here. Make the tournament for the next three years and maybe a Sweet 16/Elite 8 and kids will give us a deeper look.

It's like the Iowa Nice Guy explaining the college football eye test before the IOWA vs MSU BTCG except replace the football with basketball

I'm of a mind that we are starting to see this level of talent join the program. Not blue blood talent, but enough to make a run or two down the road.
