I think this is the right answer.No. The recent changes ISU has made to their offense will keep enough people intrigued. Their announced attendance will be around 55, while the Grapple will maybe get 40.
Depends on the weather in both cases, IMHO.ISU will have a higher announced attendance, but the grapple may challenge butts in the seats.
You know the weather would be roughly the same in both places, correct? So let's just go ahead and eliminate that as an excuse.Depends on the weather in both cases, IMHO.
If ISU doesn't win Saturday and gets blown out at Norman the next week, and the weather is typical November, the actual attendance at the Jack will not be good. The thing at Kinnick is unique, which in itself makes it a major attaction, but there's no precedent to guide estimates of attendance.
This is probably the correct answerISU will have a higher announced attendance, but the grapple may challenge butts in the seats.
Now that is pure gold, JerryCurrent ticket to attend the Grapple: $10
Current ticket on stubhub to attend ISU football game: $9

So you whined to the mods to have the Hlas thread deleted? Weak.Depends on the weather in both cases, IMHO.

No. I didn't notice it had been deleted, and I don't think it should have been deleted. I can only guess that something was said in a subsequent post that the moderator thought was a no-no. I've never asked a moderator to delete a thread, chastize a poster, or anything similar. So you whined to the mods to have the Hlas thread deleted? Weak.
Are you really that dense. Does not the fact that my first sentence was "Depends on the weather in both cases" means I think it will depend on the weather in both cases.I know, that's what I said too.
I believe you. I know you're not a pansy a$$ed lib.No. I didn't notice it had been deleted, and I don't think it should have been deleted. $20 says if there was a thread title that says the new UI Pres is a di*k or a douche, it stays. (I'll probably get banned now. That's BAU for "media" in our new country)
Why would the weather in Ames effect attendance more than the weather in Iowa City, assuming it is identical or nearly so?Are you really that dense. Does not the fact that my first sentence was "Depends on the weather in both cases" means I think it will depend on the weather in both cases.
And if you had read further, you would have seen that I was speculating about factors that might affect attendance at Ames, and then -- pretty freaking clearly -- said that because the event in Iowa City was unique, there was no precedent to guide guesses about attendance.
Good Lord, again. And in spades.
The reason the weather could impact the wrestling more is that if there is precipitation in Iowa City, they may have to move the meet indoors due to safety concerns, ie not able to keep the mat dry enough for wrestlers to safely compete. (this concern regarding safe mat conditions was provided directly from UI athletic facility person who has participated in planning process) Thus, the wrestling meet could be limited to 16,000 if that were to happen, but low attendance in Ames would be due to crappy weather, crappy team or nobody cares about a 2-10 team. If weather is 50 or above in IC, attendance at the Grapple will exceed 40k.Why would the weather in Ames effect attendance more than the weather in Iowa City, assuming it is identical or nearly so?
Done, Jackie. Yeah. I dig the way you do business, man.Current ticket to attend the Grapple: $10

I get all of that, but if it is moved inside, then it isn't really the Grapple at Kinnick anymore, and this entire poll/thread is irrelevant. The reason the weather could impact the wrestling more is that if there is precipitation in Iowa City, they may have to move the meet indoors due to safety concerns, ie not able to keep the mat dry enough for wrestlers to safely compete. Good point. Looking back at the poll question, the voting is open until nov 15th so will reserve my vote for then and I am pretty sure my vote will be correct then! You also very correct about the likelihood of pleasure in IC versus Lames, but a loss by ISU is pleasurable =)I get all of that, but if it is moved inside, then it isn't really the Grapple at Kinnick anymore, and this entire poll/thread is irrelevant.
LC appears to be trying to make the argument that sub-par weather in Ames will be more responsible for lowering their attendance than would sub-par weather in Iowa City. Which is probably true since people will withstand more pain in order to receive more pleasure, and we all know that pleasure is far more likely to occur on a given day in Iowa City.
Amen (especially to the last part)Was looking to vote, but I didn't see "What Difference Does it Make" option. Who cares how many people attend the Iowa St vs Okie St game.
And , no I won't vote for her.

Are you counting the booing in Jack Trice? It gets pretty loud. The Grapple will be louder.
Boos never as loud as the twos. Are you counting the booing in Jack Trice? It gets pretty loud.
Listen to a game at Hilton!Boos never as loud as the twos.
OK, maybe the third time will be a charm. Why would the weather in Ames effect attendance more than the weather in Iowa City, assuming it is identical or nearly so?
I don't put anything past P.T. Barnum/Pollard in Ames. He would probably try to have the meet end 1 hr before kickoff vs Iowa (in 2 yrs) and your ticket for the FB game gets you into the wrestling. Then we just put 70K in Kinnick at 11:00 on Saturday and then Lames will not be able to touch that record. Besides, they don't have a chance of breaking a wrestling attendance record unless they count every cow and pig living in Iowa west of I35 =)
