Win Totals Are Out!

That's sounds a lot higher than the 3 wins people have been trying to shove down our throats.

If Iowa can get an uptick on defense it will be a strong team.

I'm a basketball guy, but I honestly can't wait to hear those pads popping. Iowa football is truly special

Eh, I don't pay much attention to betting. But that sounds pretty close to what we should expect this season. A lot of question marks on both sides of the ball. How will the offense look with Gronowski at the helm? What will Lester do in his season season? Who's going to fill the gaps left behind on the OLine? Will our D's secondary issue be resolved? Will Iose start? Will we finally have the pass rusher we desperately need? So on and so forth. If Mark gives us a competent, dare I say even a dangerous passing attack, then I can definitely see above 7 wins.

Revisiting the schedule, I think winning the first 4 games would be really beneficial before we play Indiana then heading to Wisconsin. Simply having that momentum would be a big boon. We should be favored 3 out of the first 4. If we're undefeated with Penn State coming to town, I'd be willing to bet that will be a night game. Can you imagine Oregon coming to Kinnick to play an undefeated Iowa a few weeks later?

We lost 45% of our offensive production and don’t remember % of points in KJ

I feel it’ll be a struggle to make up those points no matter the schedule

The defense and special teams will win us at least 6 games next year. Add in another win on a late drive and field goal, and 7 is reasonable.

8 or more wins on next year's schedule is where it starts to get tricky.

Hold your horses.

Lester and Gronowski are gonna be awesome. The Hawkeyes will beat one of the three CFP teams that come to Kinnick.

I think 7 is the number.

I'd probably take the over considering we've won 8 or more games for 9 straight years.

I would be interested to hear Beth’s first state of the union. Fan apathy is at - or very near - all time highs. Apathy is the death knell of programs.

How does she plan to address it? It has to start with moving out the heads of two stale programs. That at least buys an interest for a couple of years. If there is success, then we’re back on track. This BS about stability and loyalty to a guy who hasn’t won a single title in 26 years is insane. And for God’s sake, five year max contracts. What Barta did to these programs really hamstrung the university.

Next, they need to get their arms around a collective. I get it that boosters don’t want to waste money to be spent by Ferentz/Fran, but there needs to be a better strategy. Build it for the next guys, which will help attract the next guys.

2D Is spot on with the first sentence. Those experts had Kansas cutting down the nets in late March in basketball. Look at them now

We matchup ok vs everyone but PSU and Ducks
Both come to Kinnick, hopefully at nite.
Good home slate w PSU, OR , Minny, IU and MSU in league play.
Road slate manageable w NW, RU, USC and Neb....2-2 very likely.
5-2 at home, 3-2 on road..gonna be tight to get to 8.
4-1 on the road We will beat debby .... As always.

If the Oline continues to be good to above avg in the run game then we have some very solid RBacks who can break big runs and get TDs. What everyone is quessing about is whether the passing game can take another leap. Remember in 2023 we had hardly any games with 100+ yards passing. That number improved as did the avg passing yards per game. But the passing game will be better if we have the range of passing yards being consistently between 150-200 yds per game. That gets the hawks in a balanced offense situation with passing on any down at any time.

And as others have said the defense really needs to get that total hammer effect back. A defense that is always very tough to run on and then great in coverage in long yardage situations. Even at that winning 8 games, 2 out of every 3 will be tough. But the thing is to not have bad games like UCLA and Mich St. last year

Tight to 8 sounds like a good battle cry for 2025

Iowa won't win another championship until you stop being optimistic.

And no, you won't get the opportunity to live with that, so take that into consideration...................friends? :D
