Winning in Panama

We showed plenty of strength when we led the charge against Russia in their attempt to invade Ukraine. With our help Ukraine did what was thought impossible.

What was impossible? You realize they will end up conceding all conquered territory to putin during the wind down this year right? We will have spent 10s of billions assisting in the death of tens of thousands and Russia will keep what they've already taken.

Nobody thought Ukraine could fend Russia off early on.

Everybody thought that Russia would march through the country. The big victory was to hold them back with the relatively small gains they made.

Without us Russia probably would've conquered the country.

That was never the end game lol what wild goal post moving.

Purely speculation. I've never heard anything solid on that take.
putin was banking on trump winning in 2020 so that the CIA would team with the KGB to have zelensky fall out of 7th floor window and install a putin puppet leader and when that didn't happen he invadsed. so now that trumps back in putin can just bide his time til trump cuts off aid to ukraine then march across ukraine and if you really think putin will stop at ukraine, your more stupid than me. (and I'm not too bright)

Try hundreds of thousands of deaths and everything else is spot on...

Russia first invaded in 2014 when President Obama was in office. Neither the West or Obama were willing to do anything back then.

I would give the UK, Poland and some of the Baltic countries the most credit this time. They were the first to supply major weapons. Biden even said he was waiting to see how much more Russia would take this time before considering how serious the situation was.

If you have a link with real information informing us of Putin's rationale then please do share. I never saw it.

Eh, why not, not likely people will come in here to discuss this foreign policy loss by China to Trump.

William Burns has a memoir that came out in 2019.
He was our ambassador to Russia when Ukraine and Georgian membership was first floated.
He's now our CIA Director (did the new guy already start?)

He's one of the people in our government who opposed NATO expansion (understanding where it would lead), but I don't see people calling our former CIA Director 'Putin's puppet'.
Maybe they just don't know.

Here's some excerpts from his book about the NATO expansion:

Has Ukraine lost that many soldiers? Sounds like an even bigger L than I originally thought even and pretty much confirms the money laundering theories

Thankfully biden only approved a minor incursion.
Well played by him and Blinkin.

I'm familiar with the NATO take to explain Putin's actions. But I have my doubts that it was actually any threat from NATO that he cared about. He knew NATO itself wouldn't act unless he tried pulling something.

Competing view is that he seemed pre-occupied with returning Russia to its past glory. He considered Ukraine part of Russia's ancestral home.

Because Bonespurs, who is Putin's lapdog, will bow down to him and say yes Daddy... ok Daddy, and let Putin do what he wants to and keep what he wants. So sad he is totally Putin's bitch... so sad. Hey... so glad Bonespurs ended that war in 24 hrs... oh... he didn't? He PROMISED he would! You're another lemmings.
