So who do we pull for this weekend? NU or Wisconsin? Personally I want NU to win because I'm tired of Wisconsin saying we are leading the West because of a fumble at our goal line. NU is ranked higher as well...?

Thoughts...

Agree since that clinches the West for us no matter what happens in our last two games. Although ranking-wise if Wisconsin wins there is still a possibility Northwestern stays in the top 25 and we maintain our 2 quality wins.

I can relate to your fatigue. But you have only had to put up with it for 5 weeks. Badger fans have heard similar whining for 5 years.;)

NU and here's why:

Iowa beat them by 30 and Stanford lost to them.

It is really that simple because if Wisconsin wins we may have to hear about a 4-pt margin and how Alabama tide rolled them.

Northwestern, of course.

If we beat Purdue, we clinch the B1G West, but really only a tie for the B1G West and we hold the tie-breaker.

If we beat Purdue and NW beats Wisky, we win outright no matter what happens at Neb.

Just tossing this out there, but if Wisky were to win and "diminish" Northwestern, wouldn't that indirectly tarnish Notre Dame no matter how they do against Stanford?
After re-reading that it looks odd, but hopefully you all can follow my thinking. In the end I don't think Notre Dame gets dinged by Stanford no matter what unless of course they lose, but it would be nice to hear all the holier-than-thou-domers whine about getting left out.

Have Wisconsin officials or players been saying that?

Their game is after ours, so I think it depends on the outcome of ours. If we win and lock up bid to Indy then Wisconsin winning a close game probably raises their ranking without dropping NU too far. Should Boilers beat us then root for NU 100% !

What really sucks in regards to Wisky and NU is that a couple or three 3 loss teams jumped Wisky during their by week and NU actually fell from 18 to 20 after a victory last week. The conspiracy theorist in me (;)) says this was done on purpose to minimize Iowa's road wins as one those 2 teams will drop out of the CFP poll next week.

That said I am hoping for a NU win. In reality it doesn't really matter if Iowa keeps winning.

Players.. I know a few of them from coaching AAU basketball and one specially won't let me hear the end of it.. Good kids though they have a ton of respect for Iowa! They even said they'd rather go against Alabama O line than Iowa O line..

There is only one game that matters and that is being played in Kinnick Stadium. We win and move on to game 12. We lose and the CFP is gone and a great season loses a little luster. Bottom line is that Iowa needs to be 13-0 on Dec 6th to be in the discussion.

One other factor involved is who these teams play week 13. Both teams have to travel to a hungry/desperate opponent. It's likely both Illinois and Minnesota are 5-6 heading into those games, with both of them needing to win to get a bowl game. I think it's possible both Northwestern and Wisconsin lose. I'd actually think Minnesota has the better chance of the upset right now. If so, I think Northwestern is our best shot at keeping a ranked B1G West victory. I think it's entirely possible Wisconsin could lose both this week and next week. They haven't played a decent team since early October, and may not be able to win out.

A Wisky win also helps Alabama's strength of schedule as well, which we don't want to have happen, though it probably ultimately won't matter in their selection. Northwestern winning helps Iowa versus Stanford and ultimately Notre Dame too.

Making "wins vs top 25" mean something is so arbitrary. Like the #26 team is really worse than #25?

And it's just bizarre that the outcome of a game between two teams we beat can affect our SOS. It should have a net zero affect on our SOS if Minny beats Wisc or Illini beat NU, because we beat all four!

Besides the above reasons, my guess is whoever loses is going to drop out and the winner has the chance to move up a few spots. Northwestern being higher at #20, it would be nice to see them win and bump up to the top 15 for our SOS.

Interesting perspective. As much as I want Bucky to wail on the Cats and Gophers, If I were a better, I would say they will lose one. My guess would be on the road, where Jerry's kids would like to win the ax for him for a year.
Of course, Wisconsin has plenty of incentive to win both, including the right to represent the B1G in the Holiday Bowl.

Some of the Wisconsin posters have been trolling the other Hawkeye boards. One was named "Joel Stave" and his only message was: "You're Welcome".

After the nice things Fitz had to say about us and considering that I detest Bucky more that the Purple Haze and that it looks good to have a wide gap between us the rest of the west, I want NU to win.

Here's what most people on the outside (and even some who watched the whole game) don't understand. Tell me if I'm wrong, but Iowa controlled the whole game. There were two possessions Iowa had fairly deep into Wisconsin territory; one being a missed field goal and the other turnover on downs.

People just so happen to only focus on their one good drive, which the fumble happened to be a result of a one Nate Meier.

It's not like this was some fluke deal, Iowa looked like the better team throughout much of the game.

Agree Iowa was the dominate team. Would've been a shame if they didn't win that game. Wis almost stole one.
