I've thought all year that Wisconsin and Kentucky were a cut above the rest. I also think there is a big dropoff after the top 6 or 7 teams. I don't know about Nova since I haven't watched them play, but Wiscy, Kentucky, Duke, Zona, Gonzaga, and Virginia all seem much better than anyone from the group of teams in the next tier.
I know they never get it done in the tourney, but they are legit this year.
Yeah, well, maybe they should stop being good. Hmm?..........Originally posted by youflog1hawk:

Naw, choke again I bet.Originally posted by pocha444444:

I can't claim to know that much about their conference (I'm not even sure if it is the west coast conference or if I'm spouting of total BS like usual) ... but my impression of it this year is that they haven't really had to play anybody good in conference play? Usually St Marys or Pepperdine give them some trouble, but not sure that's been the case this year. So, that tells me that Gonzaga is either REALLY good this year and just balling through their conference, or (more likely) they aren't battle-proven and will get knocked off early.Originally posted by pocha444444:

Wisconsin has taken it to iowa twice. I'm pretty sure it means they're just damn good.Originally posted by Hawkeye2222:
Wisconsin is good but they are not unbeatable. are they on the same level of a Kentucky talent wise? "NO" Wisconsin just plays as a team better than most. the way IA is playing now I like their chances, homerism aside. IA has the size to matchup up and down the starting lineup, the difference for a player coming off the bench you would have to give that to Gabe as I don't feel Wisconsin has a player that will match up.
You're right they're not unbeatable because they have been beaten. They're also the team with the best chance to beat Kentucky IMO. They're really effing good.Originally posted by Hawkeye2222:

Yeah I'm kind of the same way. Have to drink quite a bit before I can say stuff like that.....Originally posted by youflog1hawk:

Kaminsky is just in a zone lately. Came back with high expectations and is exceeding those expectations. Kind of the definition of what you want a college player to be.Originally posted by gojojo:
Kaminsky is a match-up nightmare. Not many guys his size can move that well and shoot like he does from long range. Without a doubt the player of the year in college BBall.
This just shows if you can slow down Kaminsky then you can beat Wisconsin. No way they should have lost to Rutgers with or without Kaminsky. Slow Kaminsky and keep Dekker in check and you can pull off the upset.Originally posted by Hawkeye2222:
in IA's home game White was coming off a injury and Gabe was in a walking boot the day of the game, you don't suppose that had anything to do with Wisconsin beating IA @ home, Kaminski was hurt the game Rutgers beat Wisconsin,
In college b-ball, Kaminski is only 7fter that can do this. I guess in NBA, you have guys like Dirk Nowitski.Originally posted by gojojo:

You may very well be right but I wonder why the NBA mock draft has dropped him down so much. I thought earlier in the season it was probably between Kaminsky and Okafor to be the top pick of the draft and now The Bleacher Report has Kaminsky clear down to 15th. I don't know how teams can rank so high when they haven't played many AP Top 25 teams during the season. Wisconsin is 0-1 against ranked non conference games and 1-1 against ranked conference teams but will play #23 Ohio State in their last regular season game.
Same for Northern Iowa. UNI has a lot of wins but the only two ranked teams on their schedule this year has been Wichita State and they split. Gonzaga also only played two ranked teams this year and went 1 and 1 both in non conference.
Doesn't seem like much of a challenge to me. These teams should have to play the grueling Big 12 conference schedule this year. The least number of ranked teams on any of the Big 12 teams conference schedules is 10 of 18 and that includes Kansas. TCU got hammered with 9 of their first 12 conference games were against AP Top 25 ranked teams, Kansas State faced 8 of 10 and a total of 11 at one point in their 18 game schedule and Oklahoma State 7 of 8 and a total of 12 in all.
I have worked with statistics all my life and now that I am retired I still like working with statistics and found this interesting.
I wonder how Wisconsin, Northern Iowa or Gonzaga would fare with a schedule like that?
Well, as you know there cannot be an exact answer to that question. Fortunately the NCAA Tournament is coming up and it presents quite the opportunity for fans of certain teams, or conferences, to have a good time gloating.
Or, in some cases wondering how they could have been ranked so high to begin with.
