Brauns played first half last two minutes to prevent fouls. Why I don’t know. They all suck and it doesn’t matter who you play.

Effort was good. But not enough talent. You can’t play these teams without a competent big man. And then they wear out in the second half. Hand it to them, they haven’t quit on the season.

The early and mid 2010s is all you get as far as "good" guard play from Iowa under Fran.
The lack of a post scorer hurt in 2nd half. Fran thought enough of Dembele, Mulvey, Braun to put them on scholarship and they can barely make a layup and aren't shot blockers/rebounders Wasn't a good idea to put Tonje on line for his last 8 pts with 4 unnecessary fouls.

If Beth doesn't spend the revenue sharing bucks Iowa will never catch up to the talent level of teams like Wisconsin.

What? He was horrible. He gets beat off the dribble and has absolutely no shot blocking. Nor does he rebound well. Both Mulvey and Brauns are better defenders. And Dembele is an automatic turnover if he posts up on offense. His only skill is 3 point shooting.
The “only” reason I can possibly think of that his recruiting for next year looks decent. Other than that, I’ve got nothing.
I agree with a couple of you. At the end of the last two games against good competition with a chance to get a quality win Fran has chosen to give Dembele all of the minutes. When we have needed to get stops down the stretch against Purdue and Wisconsin you would think we would put in our best defensive players to get stops, but we put in our absolute worst defender. Dembele has terrible foot quickness which gets him burnt on pick and rolls all of the time which forces help defenders to get out of place to help out leaving wide open shooters. We've played 24 games already and it should be obvious to every coach on the team and to every fan that Dembele brings nothing positive to the team defensively. Why would you play him down the stretch when you need the win. If you like him so much then why start Mulvey. It makes no logical sense. I'm starting to think Fran is trying to lose.
It's amazing what 3 more years experience will do for a player. Harding in the end will have better stats then Drew when it's all done.

Brauns and Mulvey have shown to give much more on both sides than Dembele.
But, since this is a Fran team, Dembele is a better shooter so he will play.
And to all the Harding haters, this was by far his worst game as a Hawkeye, that can't be denied, he provided nothing to this game, I guess you're all very happy now, at least you can't blame him for this loss, he didn't play enough minutes to be the goat.

This is strictly a jump shooting team, and because of that they don't get as many free throws like a team like Wisconsin. THE main reason Iowa is losing is because of Frans roster management and nothing else. HE NEEDS TO GO....

Dimbele is the reincarnation of Dom Uhl. Spazz inside when he gets the ball, all he can do is shoot face up 3pt shots with no one guarding him;
At this point, I would keep Dix, Freeman and give most of the NIL to those two guys. Traore supposedly not eligible for NIL as foreign born athletes. Thelwell probably won't get an extra year. We don't know anything about Tadjo because Fran doesn't play him--he might e worth a scholly but isn't eligible for NIL. . Harding would get zero NIL on open market, he would be good option as 13th guy on roster for backup PG. I'm hoping Pryce ends up better than Payton, but jury is out. Teams do need shooters and Pryce NIL wouldn't be much.
New coach shoud be able to bring in a few new guys. The revenue sharing NIL is key.
When your team captain is more likely to shoot an airball than a make, and is also the worst defender on the court, it is hard to win. Harding has totally lost his confidence, and Fran has lost his confidence in him. Not sure whether it was the chicken or the egg. We need Brock to give us some quality minutes.

At least Dom Uhl had his best season at Iowa as a sophomore, his last 2 seasons were Dembele like...
The baseline I was using was extremely low. I thought he was a little better in the second half.
A player at the top of the league in assists as a sophomore would get zero NIL on the open market. YOU ARE AN IDIOT....

Went to the game. Not a sellout, but fairly full. Crowd only got into it a few times. I thought the Hawks were holding their own and was thinking they were going to win….then the last 7 minutes happened.

No B1G offers before Fran offered and his body of work doesn't suggest he'd get an offer now. He's a backup quality PG that is good at passing the ball but huge liability on defense on switches and not really a pure shooter given he doesn't shoot FT's well. .
Anyway, when you resort to calling someone an Idiot for expressing an opinion that you don't agree with, it isn't normal response and you might want to tone it down.
Maybe your are correct, in a $2million NIL budget with revenue sharing, the next coach might be able to find $10K for Harding if he is willing to accept the backup PG role.

As long as the effort was good, everything is fine. Fran gets his direct deposit and fans like you are happy
