About halfway down page one. Consensus is that they're too late and it's basically Iowa or Nebraska

Only if he signs this week. Otherwise he can wait until normal signing day.But the fact the dead period starts what tommorow and no visit they would have a lot to make up for
The problem with that logic is that schools would want him to join for the spring semester. If he were to deliberate until a February signing date ... that would impede him being a spring enrollee (potentially).Only if he signs this week. Otherwise he can wait until normal signing day.

Thanks for the correction. Hopefully, Honas wants to be a Hawk.JUCO players can sign up to January 15th I believe and still enroll for the spring semester.
It still doesn't change the fact that Wisconsin is jumping on board a bit late. Furthermore, they also have quite a wealth of LBs who have game experience too.Captain attention strikes again!
Yeah ... I looked into Nebraska's LB situation. They return no fewer than 4 guys at LB who have starting experience within a 3-4. Two of whom will be SRs and leading candidates for starting spots. One person saying they think it's IA/NE doesn't make it a consensus.

Thus, just because they offered him ... that doesn't change the fact that Iowa still offers more opportunity than the rest of the competition.
Offered him a Pepsi too I heard.

Between the opportunity at Iowa and Iowa's emphasis on Honas being a top-priority recruit .... hopefully we end up seeing Honas sign as a Hawk tomorrow.
He gone....Wisky it is
Exactly, Wisky looks pretty loaded at LB, (re-post form another Honas thread)It still doesn't change the fact that Wisconsin is jumping on board a bit late. Furthermore, they also have quite a wealth of LBs who have game experience too.

Nebraska fans and the quality of the Husker facilities will certainly provide Honas with plenty to think about. Also, given the geography ... Lincoln is likely even closer to home for Honas. Geography is typically an underrated component of recruiting. Not sure if you've seen our LBs. We have numbers, but, uh, I'd say there is PLENTY of opportunity at Nebraska to play early.
I'm more concerned that he will put more weight on being a MLB in a 4-3 rather than one of two ILBs in a 3-4. I really want this guy, but I have a bad feeling he chooses the Hawks.
This is part of the coaching change instability I hate. Nebraska seems to be bringing in too many C-USA level players. We need to fill the class with Big 10 players like Honas. Transition classes are tough, and especially in the transition year you have to go with the relationships you've already built. Next year will be a big year. With that said, I am confident Frost will bring the toughness and attitude needed to get things headed back in the right direction.
He's considered a lean to declare for the draft, hence the offer to Honas.Returning SRs

Lastly, I wouldn't undersell C-USA recruits if they work hard and play with an attitude ... many would remark that Iowa has done surprisingly well with MAC-level talent. At the end of the day ... it matters more about the size of the fight in the dog rather than the size of the dog in the fight.

I don't know if I'd disrespect the players like that. I think that most of the guys on the roster at both Iowa and Nebraska ... and places like Central Florida, for that matter, tend to have plenty of talent. However, some of that talent may simply have been under-valued or under-appreciated by recruiting services. It may be that some of the players aren't plug 'n play talent ... maybe some of the players simply need to acclimate to the differences in the game at the college level. Maybe some of the "talented" kids are simply immature and will turn out great once they pull their heads from their asses. In fact, one of Iowa's recent greats at LB didn't emerge as a contender for a starting gig until he was a RS JR ... (a guy named Pat Angerer) once he emerged, he helped lead the Hawk D to an Orange Bowl victory!Very good point. I think I'm still trying to swallow the tough pill of losing some of the top WR and DB recruits that we lost when the Riley era ended. But you're right. The correct coaching can turn what some call MAC or C-USA level talent into excellent football players. And at the end of the day, you need the best football players, not the best talent. Talent is a part of the "football player" equation, but there is a lot more to it than just talent. Hoping Frost can continue turning talent into quality football players. Iowa obviously has done a really good job of this.
That is the problem that Iowa will be facing in recruiting Honas with Wisconsin now in the recruiting picture. The Badgers deserve massive props for their LB development over the past several years. Also, the Hawk staff has a pretty good resume of turning out some pretty high quality LBs. Not sure the Husker staff has that reputation. So, I understand it if he picks the Hawks based on pro-potential.
LOL ... so you're telling me that I'm not captain attention? I guess I have to go back to referring to myself as Mr. Avocado face ....none of that has anything to do with what I posted. But, thanks.
That only leaves 3 - 4 Star kids (2 Seniors, 1 Jr) and 3 3-Star kids (5.7) with experience in the program for him to climb over to get playing time...(and a 4 star recruit and another couple interesting 3 Star LBs already committed in his class.). Not counting about 4 or 5 other kids already in the program, but not as highly ranked. He's considered a lean to declare for the draft, hence the offer to Honas.
