Dang it!!

not so fast my friend...
Iowa has 6 wins...
Wisconsin has 9 wins...
Iowa is going to end up with 13 wins... that means Wisconsin has to win 4 of their last 8 games... and... one of those 8 are against Iowa... so its really 4 of their last 7...
and that's just to tie Iowa !

I don't think they got it in them.

Connie has the most experienced team in the conf, so they should win the BIG title. A lot of FF experience on that roster. What will they do when all those players leave next year?

Always a chance, but Happ literally has one basket in his entire career outside the lane. The NBA scouts aren't usually thrilled about guys like that, but who knows?

if he is not a projected first round pick, he needs to stay in school; 2nd round picks tend to end up in the D league or over seas

I think Purdue can still win a share of it. Wisky schedule is gonna get pretty tough over the next 5 games or so. If you think they are winning out, you're crazy. These bubble teams are gonna be desperate to put a feather in their cap. They have looked very vulnerable during their last 3 games against mediocre competition as well.

I like Wisconsins system especially now that Bo Ryan isn't running it.. They have a solid identity and it has created some nice consistency.
Would love to become like them or a Virginia (just with a little different style of play).

Wisc is in a rut offensively like most other teams. Its defense has picked up when its offense has sucked. The league is very competitive this year.In the BTT I like Purdue to win it all.

Wisconsin is going to fall way off next year, I could see them finishing as bad as 13-5 in the B10, maybe even 12-6 if they don't get a few lucky breaks.

Na....reload as ususal.LOL

Normally I'd agree if Bo Ryan was coaching but since he isn't there anymore maybe first time in a while curious to see how Badgers do after losing a couple of seniors. I know some underclassman still his recruits but looking at the roster 4 of top 5 scorers are seniors plus Happ. Not going to lie don't know as much about their younger guys minus seeing Trice's brother having good freshman year. But as I said with Prohm at ISU and think same with Gard next season will be real test on how good of coaches they are. Both inherited a great group of upperclassman be interesting to see how they do when they transition into their own kids. Seen it before where a guy like Bruce Weber inherits a program at Illinios from Bill Self and maintain level of success for 3-4 years until he's left with his guys who just aren't as successful as his predecessor.

I think Badger fans would echo the uncertainty of next year with Gard at the helm instead of Bo - we got used to/spoiled by the ability of the next wave of players to take the torch and carry on when important players moved on.

However, unlike Prohm, Gard has been with the program for a very long time and was the primary recruiter (Bo was not out on the road much in his later years - delegated that to his assistant). In essence, even this year's seniors are Gard's guys. The more apt comparisons are Heathcote to Izzo or Keady to Painter.

You can make the argument that last year was a bigger transition year than next year will be when they lost Kaminsky, Dekker, Gasser, Jackson, and Dukan - they had Koenig & Hayes, but at that point, Brown & Showalter had been minor contributors, and Happ had redshirted. It looked like UW was falling back to the pack early in the year before Bo resigned, but Gard is the one who was in charge when the ship got righted.

Next year, only Happ returns from the starting 5. That's a huge piece to build around, though. There's a fair amount of role players and incoming frosh to pick from to become core rotation guys. Not going to say I'm not worried, but at the same time, we've seen this movie before.

The Badgers have some tough sledding in the next 3 weeks. They are clearly the favorites right now and they should be, but they could easily lose 3 or 4 games down the stretch if things don't break their way. What if Happ or Koenig get injured? We are just over half through and I'm not ready to crown the Badgers yet.

Unfortunately this is more likely. Everytime it appears Wisky will be starting over, they just show up again. Change coaches, keep right on winning. Have to take your hat off to them, they just keep on keeping on.

A lot of people were ready to crown Iowa B1G champions at this time last year. You just never know.

With that said, Wisconsin has been consistently good for a long time. I won't bet against them until proven otherwise.

Oh, and in fairness I haven't seen Happ play much, but I have a hard time believing his skills are comparable to McHale's.

Well, he's a tall gangly white back-to-the-basket guy, who else ya gonna compare him to?

As I said before, he can't/doesn't shoot from outside the lane and is only 50% at the FT line, but does literally everything else well - including steals, which is odd for a 5. He led the B1G in steals last year. He currently is #11 nationally in steals and is the only player in the top 70 over 6'7".

As Hawk fans we have been saying every year after some past great Wisconsin player(s) graduates that they will fall off the BIG map and never be heard from again.....that hasn't happened yet and I'm not so sure that it ever will. The BIG this year is not the BIG of past years, so it's hard to determine just how good the Badgers are until they reach the NCAA tournament but they do have experienced seniors that have lead that team for the last few years. Give them credit for their success's so far.....if the other teams in the BIG want to challenge their supremacy, better coaching and talent will be needed, not hateful rhetoric.....

You hit the nail on the head. Because he's white.

Kevin McHale and Larry Bird were special players. Not because they were white but because they were friggin' good. I'm so tired of hearing white player comparisons to them because a kid is okay in college. Give me a break. From Keith Van Horn to Adam Morrison to Doug McDermott. Oh, he's the next Larry Bird. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong.

People just need to stop.

How about Dirk Nowitzky? :)
