Obviously Terry S. is at the top of the list. But he may not want to leave his current role. What other coaches would be a good fit? Huge opportunity to get some current world class athletes as assistants as well.
good question for Terry Stiener 🤔 I guess yesWhat are the contact rules between men’s and women’s teams? Could a men’s coach work with the women and vice versa?
Why not just hire the best coach, regardless of gender or race?Current USA coaches : Jessica Medina or Clarissa Chun maybe.
One of the many womens who are already college head coaches.
Current outstanding women wrestlers as either coaches or assistant coaches: Helen Maroulis, Adeline Gray
and many many more. While there are qualified men to take these positions, like Stiener or Perry, I would think a female coach is the right direction to go it. If you want to promote womens wrestling, you should also be promoting women as wrestling coaches.
It's great to be first. LFG Hawks!
They could, but if you are trying to offer more opportunity for women, in the form of wrestling, why not offer more opportunity for women in the form of coaching. Why not just hire the best coach, regardless of gender or race?

I get it, it's just the contrarian in me coming out maybe. I generally dislike anything having a mandate that the person hired has to be of a certain race, religion, or gender. Kind of defeats the American spirit IMO.Because it’s the first women’s team…the flagship. If it were just mere symbolism, I would agree with you. But we have some solid women coaches/wrestlers that are near the end of their career. While there may be more experienced male college coaches (recruiting, fundraising etc), we have some good mentors on the men’s side that can help if needed.
Clarissa Chun would actually be a great coach, b/c she is already a great coach, as she is the assistant National Team Coach and is highly respected and liked. I think a coach with existing coaching experience is very important, b/c there will be some growing pains starting a program from the ground up. Having a first time coach may cause too many simultaneous growing pains. Obviously Mark Perry, but he was just here and who knows if he wants to stay in Tempe or not... or would he want to come back to I.C. to be head coach? Same goes for Steiner. Would he want to leave CO Springs, or will his tenure there be up soon?Current USA coaches : Jessica Medina or Clarissa Chun maybe.

I would take Cunningham over CarlWell since we already have the best of the best for the men’s team why don’t we just get the best of the rest and hire Carl!
Because I would like to be able to root for the women’s team.Well since we already have the best of the best for the men’s team why don’t we just get the best of the rest and hire Carl!
I don't see why not. Different set of circumstances, etc. Don't know what the Money will be like either. All of that will come into play for whomever they hire.I'm a super outsider, but it seems like there probably hasn't been enough water under the bridge for Perry to be back in Iowa City, right? Or was the breakup overblown by media (specifically ones that have names like small fish)
Because this is more about Bata keeping his job and the optics involved. Why not just hire the best coach, regardless of gender or race?
No high crotch moves allowed. Not sure about other rules. What are the contact rules between men’s and women’s teams? Could a men’s coach work with the women and vice versa?
😬😬😬😬Helen Maroulis. Would make a great coach and not hard on the eyes either.
My guess would be 120-150kSalary will play a part. What will the Head Women’s coach make?
$75k to 100k?
Other Iowa Women’s Sports (most started around 100k)
Field Hockey $225k
Golf $95k
Gymnastics $158k
Rowing $127k
Softball $163k
Tennis $105k
I’m sorry. But the American dream was built largely by the efforts of unpaid slaves and mistreated workers from Asia.I get it, it's just the contrarian in me coming out maybe. But I certainly can get the view point you are coming from.
Lol The liberal left that’s further right than any country in Europe.a litttle off topic but if we are going there……you must mean like the wealthy Silicon valley tech individuals who are censoring others beliefs and funding the liberal left.
what the ever lovin f does that have to do with hiring the best wrestling coach?I’m sorry. But the American dream was built largely by the efforts of unpaid slaves and mistreated workers from Asia.
The American spirit you speak of was tailored for/by wealthy white men.
Inclusion (and prosperity) of all should be the norm, but that’s not really the focus of many rugged “individualists” around these parts.
This isn’t the place for this, however…..what do countries in Europe have to do with the liberals in this country?Lol The liberal left that’s further right than any country in Europe.
PS: That’s what happens when lying/manipulating folk try to present their fantastical beliefs and machinations as gospel truth.
Well, since others have discussed whether gender or race are relevant in the discussion, not to mention Title 9 debates in other related threads, I would say it was 83% more relevant than your post.what the ever lovin f does that have to do with hiring the best wrestling coach?
what a whiner.
