I trust United a lot more than I trust Boeing and if United’s CEO is going public about its concerns with QC beyond the normal we are looking at Airbus to try and leverage a better deal from Boeing, there’s probably some rationale that United has.
I just booked some flights last night. The planes are 737-700 and 737 MAX8. Am I gonna catch the dead?
I'm scheduled on a 737 Max 9 on Sunday. Only reason I considered changing was potential for cancellation. United has been doing a good job of shuttling in new metal to handle the routes but still canceling like a third of scheduled flights on the Max 9. So it is more a scheduling concern for me than a doors are going to blow open in the sky concern. U.S. aviation is the safest it has ever been and the easily the safest in the world.
agreed. it's all in the leadership. you've gotta ensure that the top management layer rises from areas that provide the company's value proposition to customers. i've personally seen situations where a top notch giant firm devolves as it layers the best people under garbage (with fungible skills). and once things are headed the wrong way, it's a real bitch to turn around. As they should be... I won't arrange my travel plans around Boeing, however. This is what happens when you have money people running an airplane manufacturer rather than engineers and airplane people.
Yep....sounds like it might turn into a bigger issue as they have done more research into the alloy used. 25% of our brand new orders are going to be sitting for 300 days after about 6 months of use. PW is going to have to pay a lot of customers some big $$$$$ for this shit storm. You’re missing out if you opt not to fly on a 787. I haven’t heard about any recent issues with the airframe and it is the most pleasant flying experience out there (from Boeing) right now.
And Airbus isn’t immune from issues. Their A320neo jets use a Pratt & Whitney turbofan engine that has significant issues.
You could both drive or fly to Cancun in March with zero issues.
The United MAX planes are nice. Much nicer than the old 737s with the Direct TV that nobody wants anymore.
MAX 9 has a clip/shelf for your phone or iPad. At least on United. If we're going to agree to get rid of in-seat entertainment then they've got to start putting more "shelves" for your device in the seatback. Because the angle of looking down at awkwardly propped phone on the tray is dumb...
The Harvard admissions office says hello. It’s not like you can just hire anyone. You have to be a certified pilot with so many hours logged. People believe anything they read these days.
