I've been banned over 5 years for saying "Welcome to the BIG10".

I cant stand ISU as much as anyone but what's the point of getting on there for that? They had a solid season, let them enjoy it......it was a brutal stretch they had going.

I've said this before on here and I'll say it again. This board has given a LOT of props to ISU this year (Campell - Lanning - there Team - making a Bowl - beating OU) etc etc.

If you go to Cyclone Fanatic - you will NEVER read anything positive about the Hawks - in essence there is no worse thing in this world than the Hawks. I'm not talking about Campbell or his team - but if Anyone thinks the "Cyclone Fans" don't have little brother syndrome - your just kidding yourself.

Unfortunately the matchup is supposed to be against an SEC team but they have too many teams on probation.

I was originally pissed to be playing Memphis in what is a defacto home game for them. But honestly it will generate a lot more local fan interest and there should be a really full stadium for what is at best a middling bowl. They are a top 25 opponent that plays an exciting style so it could be a heck of a lot worse.

1. I never go to CF.
2. Given the choice between playing BC in the Pinstripe or Memphis in the Liberty, I personally would opt for the latter.

Question for Lone Clone (a solid/realistic/reasonable) person.

Is there another Cyclone message board - Or is it just the one insane asylum that is Cyclone Fanatic? The only similar board I have ever seen is Kentucky Rupp Rafters (in regards to B-Ball). The Husker board is a close third - in that it is just made up of Husker fans slapping each other on the back and telling themselves how great they are and everyone else sucks.

Hawk fan here, but guys, you make an ass of yourselves when you go on someone elses site and make comments about their bowl game when we (Iowa) haven't won a bowl game in years. We are the embarrassment in bowl games.
Are you excited about us playing Boston College ? Are YOU going to the game ?
It's time to grow up.

Cheap/easy destination to get to, top 25 opponent, because they are local stadium could sell out and have a great atmosphere unlike a lot of bowl games at this level. I'm not going to spend thousands of dollars to go to NYC right around the new year to watch two meh teams and didn't last time.

I will spend hundreds to get to Memphis and watch two meh teams.

Sure. The Rivals Cyclone board -- the counterpart of this one -- is the only place I visit. But it's a pay site.

Nebraska's probably the worst I've ever tried to use. I got banned there. Also got banned from the Duke board for using the term "Dookies." Didn't realize it was an extreme no-no for some reason.

I'm 100% with Lone on this one.

Memphis is a much better team than BC.
Yes, it will be full of a lot of Tiger fans, but it's a very doable drive for Clown fans (as it would be fore Hawk fans) and a full stadium is better than a half-empty one. Even it they are in the wrong colors.
The chance of the snot freezing on my face, the high-beams being on, and shrinkage is much less in Memphis.
About 1/3 of the cost.
The chances of catching a cap in my ass are much less in Memphis.
Not having to be surrounded by Yankee anything.

Several reasons.

One is what I heard about the experience from Cyclone fans who went to the Pinstripe when we played Rutgers there a few years ago, primarily the expense.

Another is the uncertainty of the weather.

Another is the opponent; BC is technically a P5 team, but doesn't have the profile that Memphis does this season (ranked in Top 20 now).

Another is the proximity of Memphis; we're driving.

Another is that the bowl has a higher profile and will get more national attention. I don't know how the payouts rank, but it's on ABC on Saturday, the logical start to a day of bowl-watching that would include the Orange and Fiesta bowls. The Pinstripe is in the middle of the week along with several other ho-hum bowls.

Another is that it's not going to conflict with any family Christmas plans.

Don't get me wrong; the Liberty was not my first choice, and playing the home team is a sucking situation. I'd switch places with Kansas State in a heartbeat. But I much prefer ISU's draw to Iowa's this season -- something I don't think I can remember saying in the past.

Shouldn't be too hard. Very few situations to have to remember.

For the record too, nobody was bragging and if you had read the thread most people were really bummed about the matchup. You were trolling and it was obvious, hence, ban.

ISU goes to bowl games infrequently, so I'm happy they are ecstatic to be going to the Liberty Bowl.
