wow, USC/Sarkisian

Couldn't happen better to a program and school that consistently shows no class than usc.

"The Trojans also reportedly went so far as to ban alcohol from the locker room."

Well I would hope so. I didn't know schools actually allowed this in the first place? Why would they?

At least under Carroll - USC's locker room was pretty inconsistent with what i picture as a room used for college guys to change...

Celebs and agents were very common place. Crazy but not suprised they had booze

Who was the last coach USC had with even a modicum of class? John Robinson?

Just a FYI.
Lived in the OC for awhile - won't say where to continue to mask my id.
Saw John Robinson in church almost every week, Sat night offseason, Sunday am in season. Somewhat funny first time I went to this church he sat in same section/ one row behind. We were always sitting to him close there. You churchgoers know how people always sit in the same area every week. Anyway - Great guy and I hate USC with everybody else.. There was a couple handicapped kids (one mental and one muscle) - he always made a point to go say hi to the kids and parents almost every week. Xmas time he always brought them USC crap, I sometimes thought he made a point of making sure everyone saw him giving it to the kids but I do think it came from the heart.. He was on same church schedule as myself.
Also - loved living west coast - college fball from breakfast to pass out.

Agreed. My parents liked him a lot for some of the same reasons you mentioned. He was a pretty successful college coach the first time around and a very solid NFL coach before Jim Everett imploded.

who needs another drink?

The Chip Kelly rumors are probably already starting there.
The Chip Kelly rumors are in full swing. People around here are not pleased with having a so-so record or losing to teams like Washington. I look forward to hearing more USC fans' reactions and opinions tomorrow.

Player told ESPN that Sark "showed up lit to team meetings again." Yikes.

Roommate and his gf go to USC games and said there have been time where assistant coaches pull him out of the huddle. Wonder if they notice he's a little out of it. Could be unrelated as well.

How do they show no class? Just wondering how an Iowa fan knows this. Do you live in SOCAL?

Lots of family in the LA area and my grandfather was a Pac-10 football official in the 1970's. They way the Iowa players were treated by SC players and coaches was as low class as possible.

You talking a about at the Orange Bowl in '03? We got handled but didn't hear what happened...

Can you expound?

The coaches actually have a separate locker room. Sark, before his meltdown at Salute to Troy, had beer in the coaches locker room. Not the players locker room. Your second assertion that "Celebs and agents were very common place" in the locker room at USC under Carroll is patently false. They did not allow any non-team individuals into the locker room during that time, or any other time, unless they were invited guests to speak to the team. Yes, they had former players and alums on the sideline (Marcus Allen and Will Ferrell, e.g.), and occasionally allowed other celebrity fans on the sideline (e.g., Snoop Dogg), but they were never in the locker room. They also never allowed known, registered agents (you have to register as an agent under California law) there. I don't think this proves anything right or wrong, but I thought I'd at least set the record straight.

There were not a lot I grant you. It was like 80%+ Iowa fans, but their small group was snarky for sure.

Some day the San Andreas fault will take care of them....

Did you watch what they did to us in the second half? They had a right to be snarky, I'm not sure Miami or Ohio State would've beat them.

I was at the game (in Hawkeye gear, of course, since that is my undergrad Alma Mater), and I agree with you that it was an overwhelmingly Hawkeye crowd. I went with four USC friends. I was absolutely embarrassed before the game and into the first quarter by the way they were treated by Hawkeye fans. The level of drunken boorishness displayed by my fellow Hawks was appalling. If that were my only exposure to Hawkeye football, my conclusion would be that the "fans" care more about getting lit up on booze than watching football. IF the USC fans chirped back after they lit us up on the football field, I have no problem with that. The four guys I was with were just hoping to not get sucker-punched by the myriad wasted, aggressive Hawk fans.

I said nothing to them. I was butt drunk too. The parking lot at that stadium was an experience I will never forget. This was at the hotel that night.

Good for you. Your statement about the San Andreas fault, which if true would kill me and my children along with several million of the most productive Americans, is still out there.

Well it sounds as though the AD made the right call. I hope the guy can get the help he needs and comes out the other side of the tunnel better. Not many of us are the same person when drinking and for those that suffer from addiction I feel for them. Don't really care where they are from.

Ok, I dont wish death on a large swath of people....but I have no love for that area. Worst big metro in the country I have been to. Only Phoenix came close.

A player pulled him out of a huddle at ASU because he was believed to be intoxicated.

Then also at WSU a assistant had to restrain him.

Sark must watch a lot of Hoosiers and trying to channel his inner "shooter" to coach the team.

I'm sure you're a fine fella and all, but I think the large majority of the rest of Lower 48 would get a huge belly laugh out of this statement. For sure I did.

So Sark is now fired.

Why is Pat Haden getting a pass here?

He shouldn't be, he should probably lose his job as well. Haden is responsible for hiring Kiffin and Sark...generally AD's don't get three strikes in selecting a football coach. There have been long standing rumors about Sarks drinking dating back move than 5 years...when he was wasted at the Trojan event in August, he should have forced the coach to get help and placed him on leave. Instead, he let the coach continue with this behavior while simply hoping he would get better. I hope Sark gets the help he needs...wouldn't be surprised if Larry Eustacy reaches out to Sark in support at some point in the near future. I applaud LE for how he has handled his situation and it should give hope to Sark that he can be successful without drinking.

Then they'd be laughing at the people with the nuts to support you. Taxes from California support your way of life, feeloader.
