Yes...another Martin thread but this one is good news

The fact Iowa needs him fight away.
Actually kind of a rare year in which I believe our WR group would be a strength this year with or without OM, however; adding OM to the mix would solidify the group with 5-6 solid guys
1's- Smith, ISM and Nico
2's- Tracy, OM and Lockett
We will see a ton of 3+ WR sets this year until our young TE's get developed. This will also add an element of spreading out the defense to gash them up the middle- this will suit Sargent an awful lot

I think that as soon as OM is comfortable in the offense, he will surpass ISM. ISM is faster, but OM is reported to have great hands and runs excellent routes. He's also pretty fast (4.57 40) and has a 41" vertical! I might be guilty of buying into the hype, but I'm hopeful that he's going to be really good. ISM may end up our 4th or even 5th receiver and return specialist.... It will be fun to see how things play out!

ISM seems to be inconsistent in his play and from all accounts in his approach as well, so I could very well see your scenario playing out. However, I think at this point we hope to add depth to the room and not put some crazy expectation on OM, Tracy or Rico until they prove it on the field. I think its reasonable to expect improvement from Smith and ISM bc we have seen what they can do and can assume they will improve with some focus and hard work. We as fans have good intentions, but we get so excited about guys we put these wild expectations on them and then we get fired up when they don't reach these unwarranted expectation

I've been excited about Tracy for a long time, as I think he has the most complete toolbox of all. We all know Nico has been turning heads so far, and most of us would probably agree that both that ISM and Smith are only going to improve.

- I don't care who he was behind (or ahead of) on Michigan's depth chart...If Martin somehow knives his way into significant playing time this year, it means our WR group will be WAY above average. JMO

Thank God ISU didn’t want him. Otherwise we had no chance. With their on field success and putting people in the NFL. Whew. Campbell is so selective with offers we dodged a bullet here. Just ask Psycho Twins and his 3 friends that have posted over 100 times on this from their jobless perches. Wow so happy a player would slum to Iowa over an entitled and lofty and regular top 10 team like ISU. I can’t believe how lucky we are.
That sarcasm light is on full power!

I hope Martin gets the waiver from the NCAA, three years is better than two. Nice addition at WR from an Iowa native.
With a good lawyer and since he has a sick relative(wink) and racial comments made towards him, I'm sure he will get three years..:(

Sadly, whether or not he gets a waiver will probably depend on how good. a lawyer he/his parent hire. That is a big problem with the process.

Maybe now the "we-can't-recruit-4-star-talent" crowd will simmer down...welcome home Oliver! I fully expect the only news rather than social media to announce this is a University release, which fully fits OM's m.o.
