You Guys Got Cracker Barrell In Iowa?

It's not 1960 anymore, you must be joking even comparing WDSM to West O? It's not even 1970 anymore.

Des Moines is a wannabe Omaha and eastern Iowa is one big stinky river town, not to forget Chicago buys one way bus tickets for the worst of the worst, destination eastern Iowa.

You need to get out more.
I grew up in Missouri Valley in the '60s, spent a lot of time in Omaha. His description is accurate for then -- except for the comment about restaurants. There were several good Italian places (all different, all owned by various members of the Caniglia family) then, and some terrific steak places, topped by Ross's on 72nd south of Dodge.

But that was the '60s. Omaha is nothing like that now, and nothing like his description. Lots of places to go, things to do. I even suggest it as a good place for a long getaway weekend. Old Market area is cool.....it was a warehouse district when I was delivering candy and tobacco back in the day.

Wolf is a kook, I explained to him his description of Omaha and CB was from 40 years ago.

We have a Cracker Barrel in Omaha and it's pretty good.

Ate at a Waffle House on Christmas Day 1993 when I was on TDY in Biloxi. Eh.

I wish we had a Bob Evans here. Closest one is in St. Joseph MO

Cracker Barrel is good and over-priced. We had to wander through the gift shop to get to the restaurant.

I visit Dixie a lot and like the Waffle House breakfasts. Good omelettes, cute age 18-22 year-old waitresses. Most towns in the South there is a great breakfast place. If you can find it, good for you. If not, go to Waffle House.

When did your mom change her name to The Rock?

Where in any of my posts did I once speak of Omaha? Your reading skills are as bad as your reasoning skills.

But my description of CB as a shit hole is still accurate. Probably was 40 years ago, too.

My wife's grandmother lives in Missouri Valley. That town has seen some hard times over the years.

As for Omaha restaurants, you could argue that they were better 40 years ago. There's are a lot of chains in the area today but I don't think the quality approaches the the family owned ones of years past. I thought it was funny regarding the long waits at places like Cheesecake Factory or Texas Roadhouse. As for the Old Market, it's ok, nothing special. It's better than nothing during the summer. The further west you go, the more inhabitable it seems. Dundee is a nice little area tho and I've had fun there. Council Bluffs on the other hand, seems to be where the rejects from nearby counties and towns seem to congregate and live out their lives. At least a there's the new shopping development out by the new Target etc on I-80
