There's never been a time in my life when Iowa football and men's basketball have both been so limp and uninspiring. I didn't even know MBB had a game tonight. I'll probably watch tOSU v. Indiana tomorrow and keep an eye on the Iowa score. The Barta/Kirk/Fran effect. The Human Lapel Pins of college athletics. Snore.
Been plenty of them. It’s just short term memory. Most of the last 10 years of Dr Tom & Hayden were meh and the fans talked about it regularly. We just didn’t have message boards.
It’s a fan thing honestly. Before CC showed up people bitched about Bluder too? Now they think she’s a savant.
Tom B has even fallen out of favor. For years fans have said “ole Tom” wouldn’t allow this mediocrity. Well guess what…
This is where we are at as a society. We have probably had the most sustained football wins in a 10 year period in our history and here we are 🤷♂️

Nah. It's never been this bad IMO. I'm not talking Ws and Ls. Yeah Hayden's final years were mostly crap, but I was still always charged and ready to watch a Hayden Fry coached Iowa team. I'm talking apathy. I honestly couldn't care less what happens to this football team as long as Kirk is HC, because I know he's not going to do anything to make it better. As for Fran, we haven't made a Sweet Sixteen in the 15 years he's been here, including multiple seasons when we had the best college MBB player in the country. Pathetic.
Friend from 1992-1998 Hayden went 43-37 & scored less than 17 points something like 27 times. It’s literally because KF has had so much success your expectations have changed.
If you were excited it’s because you didn’t care about scoring & winning, but apparently now you do 🤷♂️

When evaluating things, I always make sure to get a really wide frame of reference nationally and at home with my own program.
HF didn’t win near as much as KF at the end. Several years of losing teams will fix your perspective.
Lol, you must have missed the part where I said it wasn't about W's and L's. KF has proven he has no interest in making the Iowa program better. He's fine doing the same old things the same old ways and achieving the same old results, all the while knowing that it's not going to move the Iowa program ahead or make it better. And yes Hayden's final years were painful, but at least he knew when it was time to move on because that's what was best for the program.

I think it’s the fact none of them shake up their staffs to try and improve. Iowa is a good school but when GB’s motto was go to school, get good grades, compete, and do it right bla bla bla, he said winning isn’t as important as running a clean program. That’s not the message you send to your fans. That’s an internal message to your coaches and players. It’s time for resets for the men’s programs to create a buzz and energy for all three as they are stale and in need of a refresh.
By keeping Brian around as OC. If BG had not stepped in and forced Brian out, KF would've happily had him running our offense again this year. BF was among the worst OCs in the country, our offense was arguably the worst offense in the country, and Kirk would have been fine maintaining that status quo. That proves to me that KF has no interest in making the Iowa program better.

Yes, we are pretty average when we’re starting a fourth string quarterback, missing a first string, cornerback, tight end, wide receiver and right tackle…
Iowa is no different today than they were week 2. Every team has injuries and all of Iowas QBs are bad to mediocre. There isn’t much of a drop in talent from McNamara to Stratton. Iowa has the worst QB room in the country by a mile.
We’ve had our disagreements but nothing major. It will be interesting in the new B1G with a lot better teams in both football and bball to see how well they can compete and win or start losing. Iowa has had the benefit of a bad B1G west minus a team or two to get their wins then add in a Maryland, Rutgers, or Indiana to get their victories then blown out vs PSU, Michigan, or tOSU. Now add in USC and Oregon and it’s a new ball game. It will be interesting to see how KF responds to this new B1G world or will he bail out. Same with Fran.

Lost to 4-6 UCLA and MSU this year alone. Iowa’s offense capabilities were set back years due to KF’s refusal to play offense to win ball games. If you can’t be honest with yourself about Iowa’s weakness to get to the next level, I can’t help you.
