Zack Ryder Committment and why the hell this thread is here

does anyone here run over there and post whenever we get a recruit, pretty pitiful
comment GIF

No. He's:
  • HS Class of 2024;
  • Turned 16 this spring;
  • A U17 world bronze medalist (freestyle @80kg) coming back after losing his opening match;
  • A U16 Fargo champion in 2021 (freestyle, @152lbs);
  • A 2-time NY state champion (folkstyle, defending @160lb).
He’ll have a tough time cracking the lineup with Haines and Facundo already there. When Starocci graduates, then Van Ness, Haines, and Fucando could move up. I am not sure where he fits?

He’s still got a couple years before he hits college. Willie was saying he expects him at 184/197. If he bulks up to 197 I could see their lineup as 157-Kasak, 165-Haines, 174-Facundo, 184-Barr, 197-Ryder

Why did you post this? I can understand posting in a thread they started, but why start this thread here?
Sorry for the late response. I had a busy weekend. I definitely did not intend to wave a red flag trying to start a bunch of crap. It was an interesting commitment given that there was literally zero chatter about him being interested in PSU. The Hawks already have a stud arriving in IC at that projected weight.
I was intending to see what Hawkeye Nation thinks of the potential to have another 3-4 year rivalry between Gabe vs. Zac ala Bull vs. Cenzo. That's what we all tune in for after all, regardless of the colors we wear. We are all wrestling fans and seeing two great athletes going at it is all an old washed up athlete like me has left.
I grew up an Iowa wrestling fan in the 70s and 80s and dreamed of wrestling there. Like most, I was nowhere good enough. So I went to Penn State and am now a Penn State fan. But I'll never lose my respect for what Iowa means in the world of collegiate wrestling. If Iowa ever became irrelevant, it means collegiate wrestling has become irrelevant. Nobody wants that.
What we want is to be on our feet watching Chittum/Van Ness, Kennedy/Facundo, Arnold/Ryder battle it out, because we can't. That's what it's all about.
If I offended, I apologize. I should have included some commentary with the post. I'm sure that would have set the correct tone.
Here's to a great (and injury free) 2023 season for all!

If you weren't summarily blocked for originally creating the thread, the length (without white space) of your delayed response might trigger a few more. 😉

Pretty impressive start to his MMA career, for sure.
His opponent (a striker) was so worried about a takedown that Bo put him down by landing a clean overhand left. And then it went to Bo’s world and he showed mad skills.

well At least this last opponent was a decent adversary. The last guy he fought and beat up looked like a used Bible salesman who hustles leftover hotdogs from a street cart for money to buy cigarettes. At first glance, I thought i was watching one of those Bum Fight videos.
