NCAA Championship Thread : Session III

Go feel the sunshine on your faces before next session, lads. It will do you some good.
I agree with the logic. Only problem, I went outside, cloudy, snow up to my belly on the level and eye level where I try to shovel it, strong north wind and 10 degrees, and snowing. So I went back inside and sat under a heat lamp, close enough I guess. 🙂

You're a disingenuous pu$$y and clearly a troll but I'll reply anyway...

If you think being silly & sarcastic as a guest on an Iowa board today won’t be met with friction you have zero self awareness. You want to pretend you come here for perspective? Give us a break. We know that’s not the case.

All will agree, the PSU program is doing well & in a good place. But the weird fetish of PSU fans needing to come here for added gratification is frankly, quite sad. Nit fans want to give the impression they are “classy” but it’s clearly just the opposite. PSU fans are the epitome of a douchebag fanbase. The description is used so much here, simple because it's true. PSU fans get a little boner and feel the need to come here and show it off for their own gratification.

Iowa fans are at least “real” and can embrace the sometimes ugly side of fanaticism. PSU fans seemingly have this weird need to remind everyone of their programs dynasty and how great it is to be number one. Sadly, it's just not a good look. Please show yourself out the door and oh, GFY.
He's obviously jerking chains trying to get a reaction , why bother with him? Unless you have an awesome insult about his mom or sister . Then fire right back at him.

For quite some time now…. Like I said, I’m far from privy of these details, but I do know there’s been interest in quite a few guys on a lot of your wishlists. Some names would shock many.
Sadulaev would shock me :)

You could use some help, maybe some coaching?

It isn't the losing that is frustrating, some of the other guys are just better. It's how we lose. Love Murin's match, he lost. Cobe, made dumb mistakes he shouldn't be making. Nelson and Abe did nothing and lost, that is the frustrating part. When we don't even try to score points until late, wrestling with no urgency... If we let it fly and get beat, so be it, but when we wrestle so conservative and lose, that frustrates me.
You can’t have it both ways. Cobe let’s it fly and then people say he makes dumb mistakes

Well not for Spencer….
Spencer actually proves my point. It his disloyalty to the code that so incensed rec hall to boo him. Not that I want to reopen that particular can of worms. Just think of it as analogous to Amish shunning.

A short story to illustrate. My mentor and I went to Dickinson, a slac in south central pa. On graduation he goes home for the summer to York (in south central pa). Neighbor says, so what are you going to do? He says, I’m going to law school. Neighbor says, where? Penn, he responds (as in, Ivy League Penn in Philly). Neighbor says, “couldn’t get in to Dickinson?”

You were saying that provincialism is a genetic quality amongst Pennsylvania folks, I gave an example that was more concerned about making what he felt the right choice was rather than staying home. And you say I prove your point?

Spencer, ADS, Murin, Ky, and Kem are the outliers in your argument. The people that booed Spence at state college are the supporting evidence. My example of Spencer doesn’t prove your point. The people that booed him do.

He may not be a "hole", but he also isn't a guy we shouldn't recruit over if the opportunity arises.
3rd year in and he doesn't reach the podium. That's foreboding considering this class is loaded again next year.
TNT ****ed his career when they burned his shirt his freshman year. If he had 3 years left I'd say we can wait. Now? Not so much.
They didn't burn any shirt. He has 3 years left. That year didn't count.

As in any other genetic population, there is mutation. But until the environment changes, you describe the population by the non mutants.

That's a fairly small sample size. You know how many people grasp what a 4x national champ means. PSU fans I know ( football fans and alums) barely know wrestling is going on.
Psu won an NCAA tournament basketball game btw. That's getting way more attention locally.
I'm guessing wrestling fans are a lot more plugged in to this stuff compared to general sports fans.

Sucks that psu is about to lose their coaches but I’m not sad to see him move on. I actively rooted for them last night. They kicked ass.

Hopes for tonight:
Max finally AA. He can be frustrating to watch but he is as blue collar as a wrestler can get. Holds position and doesn't beat himself. Had one of the best in the last several years with fear in his eyes. Now that a team title isn't on the line I can root for him. Come on Max!
Warner has long been one of my favorite non-PSU wrestlers. He is another guy that grinds it out. Obviously dinged up but still grinding. Tough one in Allred tonight but he should do better than Dean against him as he has a little more length.
Cass is another of my guys to watch. He has a funny personality and seems to be enjoying the journey, Dare I say he is grateful to be wrestling and FUN to watch? His match with Schulz was good viewing. CS is a mountain and a big man to be moving around. Cass got it done. Just for the doubters I don't think Fat Cass wins that match. I think a slow moving brawl would have gone to Schultz. Good on Cass. Now go get Parris so we can have Kerk-Cass part 4 or 6 whatever number it is now.

I do think Spencer better be careful with Ramos. Ramos has tossed him once. Will the toss in the dual play in Spencers head? I doubt it. Lee wins setting up some trash talking with Glory tomorrow. A Glory that has had a full day of feed to recover and no need to make 125 ever again makes this an intriguing matchup.

Woods Hardy part 3 is one that I am interested in. I have watched Hardy since he was a little shaver. Watched him dominate regional tournaments in HS. Hardy Woods part 2 in the B1G was good watching. Hoping for more of the same. Sorry guys have to root for the almost local guy in this one. Go Hardy!

controversy...initially watching the last TD sequence, i saw both of Van Nesses feet out of bounds...i'll have to download it and watch it later
Here is the screengrab I got from the match...clearly shows Van Ness has both feet out of bounds (right foot is denting the mat)

Someone with a rule book can quote it, but i think it states you must have one anchor point in...

Mos def re max. I love guys that are like fourth line hockey players. Never had an ovechkin jersey, but I’ve had Matt Bradley, Matt Hendricks, and Garnett Hathaway.

Lmfao, I love having my own personal trolls.

1.) The ENTIRE point of that post was how hard 165 was MORON. I am actually a big fan of Facundo having watched him wrestle for years before you even knew who he was.

2.)I actually said it was going to be very hard for Kennedy all year to AA. I picked him 7th and got blasted by many on here for doing so. Sadly, he had a terrible draw as the 6 seed. Lost to a 2 time AA that beat Hamiti right after and then lost to the 4 seed. Not sure how that is on me...

3.) I have actually said PSU was far ahead of Iowa the ENTIRE year. Nothing has changed that. The PSU guys are finding ways to win tough matches. Tons of props to them. Where have I said anything otherwise?

4.) I am all for Iowa fans feeling upset. That is their right. It's the very ignorant blasting of their wrestlers that are infinitely better than they give them credit for that I have an issue with. I mean, they ARE still in 2nd place.

5,) I love the "buried me"argument. What was the score again? I never said Marinelli would have a better career. Would love to see you cite that one for me. The ONLY thing I may have said was to predict Marinelli would win NCAA's the year Covid cancelled the tournament.

6.) Kennedy actually beat Facundo 1.5-0. But, don't worry, math is tough!

Fat Cass did beat him 2 out of 2 at NCAAs two years ago.

This call, Haines being flat and no fall called, and not even a review of the finish with yanni and murin… horrible. That’s a huuuuge swing in points.

I mean - not even a brick.
