A new GOP House proposal is set to ban trans women from women's bathrooms at the capitol building to target first trans Rep, Sarah McBride

Like I said. It’s such a small majority of the population. Why are you so worked up about it? How is it affecting you?
If you haven’t caught on, I’m acting like a dem. That’s always the response you guys give when trans issues are brought up. Here a dem started a trans thread, why I don’t know because it has no impact on his life. It impacts such a small percentage of people. Who cares if they pass some bill.

So you've moved on from this bill helps the average person to this bill doesn't impact the average person?

If the bill doesn't impact the average person why is the government wasting time by passing an unnecessary bill that's only purpose is to target a marginalized group?

***Official Caitlin/Fever/Kate/Meg Games Mega Thread***

Very smart move by Caitlin to stay out of Unrivaled! Now she can keep dialing in with the lifting and with the finer parts of her game, all while getting enough rest and still having time to enjoy life after a really long season.
I went back and forth. On balance, I was hoping she would play for purposes of recruiting free agents, and for purposes of my entertainment. But she made the best decision for herself for the reasons you stated.

This might be a little tougher than Putin thought...

Russia has spent the last 15 years steadily modernizing and rearming its navy. The work is intended to recover it from the post-Cold War low point of the 1990s, reaching new levels. The introduction of new classes of warship, though smaller than those they replace, is a significant leap in modernity. Meanwhile new submarines, particularly the nuclear-powered Severodvinsk(Yasen) class, are truly world class.

But the project now faces a major obstacle. The cracks are already showing, and Russia is unlikely to be able to maintain the modernization of its naval forces if the war continues.

The invasion of Ukraine has heated the Russian economy and created new political and financial challenges for the Kremlin. This is felt on the battlefield, and is also visible in the navy’s reconstruction. So while the future Russian navy may retain some high-end assets, particularly advanced submarines, its overall influence at sea is likely to diminish.

The 97' team was probably the end for Hayden. That team was loaded with talent and just couldn't win the close games that year plus laid the usual Ohio St. egg. They somehow lost to Michigan in a game they seemed to dominate and then lost by 3 at Wisconsin and 1 at NW.

98' they didn't have a ton of talent and the team continued its slide from 97' and finished 3-8.
I remember that team as one of the worst teams … wow they were terrible in every aspect… I don’t want those days back ever… Nebraska fans have had to deal with this for how many years?

Walmart is preparing to raise prices if Trump delivers on his tariffs promises.

Agreed. And thanks for the actual discussion instead of the 'OMG you're an idiot' replies made by, yes you guessed it, idiots.

This points you make are well taken. I agree. I think we'd have to consider some sort of a small tariff first then ramp up or down depending on the behavior by the US consumer and the foreign producers. A test of concept of sorts.

But yes this is a very complex issue. But i also think that the American will, work ethic, ingenuity and productivity are among the world's best and I imagine we could meet demand much more quickly than you'd suspect. The driver being jobs and capitalism. Where there is a chance to make money, that vacuum is often filled quickly.

Economics isnt my area of expertise professionally. But I also believe that this relfex jump by many to reject out of hand, the idea of focused tariffs, is short sighted. I could be 100% wrong for sure. But I also knopw the times we live in and the threats that exist from China are real. We need to address these head on now.

In some ways, you are making my argument for me. You just stopped short. If we suffer a small amount of pain now, fill these manufacturing holes now, in peacetime, itll save us from having to fill them later, in wartime where time is much more of the essence.
You are assuming Trump will act with logic and reason. You assume he will do some trial tariff and increment his way to the full monte. But that is NOT what he promised and that has never been his modus operendi.

Then there is the question of the American electorate. I believe the largest reason he won was that the GOP was able to assign blame for inflation to Harris vs. Trump. The “paycheck to paycheck” folks that brought Biden to the White House either switched back to Trump or at least did not vote Harris because of inflation. I don’t believe the stage has been properly set for people to accept a few hard years of higher prices, product shortages and economic hardship. They did NOT vote for that. They voted for lower prices.

Finally, I don’t even think this is our top issue. I think the deficit is our top issue. What you are suggesting would likely increase the deficit dramatically in the short run as more people go on unemployment etc.

Anyway, thanks for the response. It is a good conversation - hell, it’s one of the most important conversations. But none of the political class are actually talking specifics. It is all worthless platitudes. And I suppose it comes down to trust. You think Trump will find a good path forward. I think he is a bull headed idiot that will f*ck the whole thing up. Time will tell I suppose.
