If Kamala loses, will she run for POTUS in 2028?

If she loses, will she run again? If so, will the Dem power brokers, particularly Obama, support her? If she runs again, and is nominated, would she choose Walz as her running mate?

If she loses, would Walz consider running for POTUS if Harris also runs? What if Harris doesn't run?

What is the likelihood that Harris is a sacrificial candidate? If she wins, that's icing on the cake because it wasn't really expected, and the power brokers have another puppet. If she loses, at the least the Dems didn't sacrifice someone with a good chance to win in 2028.

Woman Looking for Cat May Have Fallen Into Sinkhole, Authorities Say

Elizabeth Pollard went looking for her missing cat on Monday evening in Unity Township, Pa. Then, she disappeared.
When the authorities went looking for her early on Tuesday morning, they found the 64-year-old’s car, her 5-year-old granddaughter inside it and a newly formed sinkhole nearby — which, they believe, Ms. Pollard had fallen into.
The authorities immediately began an “all hands on deck” rescue operation, Trooper Steve Limani of the Pennsylvania State Police said at a news conference at about noon on Tuesday. Excavators and rescue teams were working to remove dirt and access the sinkhole, which is about the size of a manhole, to try to find Ms. Pollard, who authorities said could be in another cavity underground.
“It appears that it was most likely created during the time while, unfortunately, Ms. Pollard was walking around,” Trooper Limani said. “We’re hoping everyone keeps their family in their prayers, that this ends up being a rescue mission, and that’s how we’re going to continue to conduct ourselves.”

Trooper Limani said that police received a call around 1 a.m. from a family member of Ms. Pollard, reporting her missing hours after she had gone to look for her cat, which The Associated Press said is named Pepper. The authorities searched for Ms. Pollard in other places, including the woods, using drones, but Trooper Limani said he believed that she could only be in the sinkhole, which they found near her vehicle around 3 a.m.
When Fire Chief John Bacha of the Pleasant Unity Volunteer Fire Department arrived on the scene, he said, it was not immediately obvious that someone had fallen into the hole. But when rescuers placed a camera in the hole, they saw a “modern” shoe that most likely was not a remnant of coal mining operations, Chief Bacha said.
The sinkhole was found in Marguerite, an unincorporated old coal mining community in Unity Township, Pa., about 40 miles southeast of Pittsburgh. It can be common for sinkholes to open up because of the old mines, Chief Bacha said on Tuesday.
The sinkhole opened up near a restaurant called Monday’s Union Restaurant, where Ms. Pollard’s car was parked, Trooper Limani said. It has plenty of oxygen and remains warmer than temperatures at the surface level, according to Chief Bacha.

Ms. Pollard’s 5-year-old granddaughter, who spent several hours in the car in freezing temperatures, was found safe and reunited with her parents, authorities said. It is unclear what happened to Ms. Pollard’s cat.

If Iowa State Can Get it Right, Why Can’t We?

I’ve seen numerous comments about how Iowa sports is in for a world of hurt when Fran and Ferentz move on. Iowa State has found two coaches that have brought them a lot of success, especially in basketball . Considering where they were in football Campbell has done a pretty amazing job. So if another school in our state with less conference money coming in, can get it right, what are we so afraid of? Sure, we could fail with a hire or two but eventually don’t you have swing for the fences? I am happy with the job KF has done but the end is near. Fran has us as a bubble or worse program with no hope of any Sweet 16. I just think we can be better than that once in a while.

Do you ever report dead deer or potholes in your area to get removed?

Here in Maryland there are tons of deer, especially during autumn which is mating season. They get hit by cars all the time. I call the state highway administration or county government after I spot them and they'll remove them in a couple business days.

I started reporting dead deer in 2018 after seeing one rotting on the side of the highway for a month. It was gross. I figured if I don't do it, no one will.

I'm proud of my civic duty. Several times, I've reported dead deer in grass near bus stops. The bus passengers would step in them at night probably because they couldn't see them. Foul

I don't know how many dead deer I've reported in total...at least 150.

I also report potholes; probably a few dozen since 2022 when I hit one at night in the rain going 30 MPH and my hubcap and rim got destroyed. $600 repair bill. Oy.

I reported that pothole and it was fixed within a few days. It was a busy street and I imagine tons of cars would have hit it if I didn't report it.

I'm currently reporting two huge potholes in a pharmacy parking lot. I haven't found the property manager so I reported it to the pharmacy manager and county government. I also found the previous leasing company and wrote them a letter. I'm hoping it's filled in a month.

CSB.

Anyone else do your civic duty?

PBS News Hour's Extreme Makeover: 27 Times More Likely to Find 'Far Right' Over 'Far Left'

Key Findings:

■ PBS staff used 162 variations of “far right” labels and only six “far left” labels, an astounding ratio of 27 to 1.

■ PBS staff also used mere "right-wing" and "left-wing" labels at a disparity of 33 to 6. So overall, the labeling disparity was 195 to 12.

Ottumwa!!!

Hey guys! Thrilled to join the forum. I hear you all lovingly refer to Ottumwa as the armpit of Iowa. Can't say I disagree entirely, but come on—there are some hidden gems! Like our fabulous factories and that not-so-famous bridge. Excited to dive into the discussions and defend my beloved "armpit"!

***WNBA Offseason Thread***

I thought about posting this in the CC Show thread but decided it might be best to have a separate thread since a lot of this will be non-CC related.

- As I mentioned in that thread, the 2025 schedule was released recently. Opening night is Friday, May 16. Indiana opens their season on May 17 at home against Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky.

- A bit of drama today in Seattle as Storm guard Jewell Loyd has requested a trade. Last month she filed a complaint against the team, alleging bullying and mistreatment of the players by members of the coaching staff. The Storm hired an outside legal firm to investigate and today they announced that they found no wrongdoing. So that obviously creates an untenable situation for Loyd going forward and she now wants out.

- The expansion draft is this Friday night on ESPN. Each team can protect 6 players. The league has stated that they will not formally release the list of available players. They will only announce the players who are drafted by the new Golden State Valkyries franchise.

- Earlier this week NaLyssa Smith posted a cryptic message on her Instagram that read “life is all about knowin yo worth, don't stay nowhere u not wanted n appreciated". This has naturally led to speculation that her days in Indianapolis are numbered. It could mean that the Fever have left her unprotected in the expansion draft. If that’s the case then frankly it’s probably best for everyone involved. Her relationship with Fever fans got pretty toxic toward the end of the season due to her relationship with Connecticut guard DiJonai Carrington. A fresh start in San Francisco would probably be good for her as well as Indiana’s team chemistry.
