The full story:

Where illegal immigration and police violence are concerned. Here are the parallels:

1) Both identified a problem:
A) Poor constraints around illegal immigration for MAGA
B) Instances of unacceptable police conduct for BLM

2) Both made extensive use of specific events pertinent to their cause via social media in order to drum up support and illustrate a problem.

3) But.... Both then made claims that didn't fit the evidence:
A) The MAGA movement markets the illegal immigrant as very dangerous -- you could say more dangerous than the American citizen -- despite poor evidence for this claim. (in fact, on balance extant evidence indicates the opposite is true)
B) The BLM movement marketed cops as more dangerous and corrupt than they really were -- this helped to spawn attitudes like ACAB and the widely held belief that black people were much more highly targeted by cops than they actually were.

4) This happened because the movements were more interested in feelings than in (statistical) reality. While both identified legitimate problems, their rhetoric clearly misinformed the public.

There are signs that “bird flu” is starting to mutate into mammals.
Just a “heads up” because I remember how much many here love science!
If properly managed by Trump I am sure he can work this crisis and postpone the 2028 elections.

Anyone following this story? A Hawaii woman went missing in Los Angeles on November 8. She was traveling alone on a “bucket list” trip to NYC but missed her connecting flight at LAX.

Shortly after that her family started receiving strange text messages from her, saying she was afraid and thought someone had stolen all her money and was trying to steal her identity. Her family isn’t sure if she was the one sending the messages or if someone else had gotten ahold of her phone. All attempts to call her went straight to voicemail and they haven’t heard from her since.

Her father flew to Los Angeles to look for her but now he has turned up dead. His body was found in a parking lot near LAX. He apparently jumped from a parking structure.

Former congressman Jim Leach passed away, and here is what the obit in the CR Gazette had to say about his wrestling career:

"But Leach’s humility receded when it came to his accomplishments as a wrestler. He won a state title in 1960 for Davenport High School.
“He liked to say that he'd been inducted in the Wrestling Hall of Fame,” Wierzynski said.
"I’ve always thought that the most equalitarian place in the world is the wrestling mat," Leach said in a 2009 interview. "You have two people operating with the same goal in mind and abiding by the same rules. Wrestlers may differ in height and body type, but it’s hard to say who has the natural advantage." "
