    Most probably not compete with Cade, but for QB2. It doesn't happen often, but Kirk has gone with the new guy at QB2, even when they arrive in the fall. Nate Stanley and Drew Tate got the spot as true freshmen, and of course Brad Banks over previous starter Jon Beutjer.

    Closer to home for NU would be to play at Chicago-area stadiums. Northern Illinois is away on September 7 and off on Sept 14. Notre Dame is off October 5 and away Oct 19.
