“Shut up about egg prices!”

I’m not sure if a single day has passed since the inauguration that I didn’t hear someone bitching about how Trump campaigned on egg prices and hasn’t done anything to bring them down.

I get sarcasm. But at some point, enough already.

It is kind of like Trump's golfing habits. By itself I wouldn't give a damn how much he plays golf. But Trump said during his first campaign that Obama played too much golf and that he would be so busy being president he wouldn't golf at all when he was in office.

Then he played more golf in 4 years than Obama did in 8.

It is 100% fair to hold a president to the shit they said in the campaign.

He said he would lower egg prices. Yet egg prices keep raising. Therefore Donald Trump is a failure. He also said he would end the war in Ukraine before taking office. He failed at that and is thus a failure at that.

The golf thing is a fair criticism because he has direct control over how much he golfs. But here's the thing about campaign promises - every candidate makes unrealistic promises. That's politics.

There are certain inherent advantages to being the incumbent and there are certain inherent advantages to being the challenger. One of the advantages of being the challenger is that you get to hammer away at the incumbent's perceived failures and promise to do better than he did. Take COVID, for example. Biden and pretty much every Democrat in America campaigned hard on COVID in 2020. They hammered Trump constantly for his failure to control the virus. 450K Americans died from COVID during Trump's final year in office. They still blame Trump for all the jobs lost in March 2020 when we shut down large segments of our economy. And that blame is particularly disingenuous when you consider that Democrats would have shut down the economy even more if they had their way.

Biden promised to get COVID under control. And then another 450K Americans died from COVID during his first year in office. The US (along with the rest of the world) eventually got the virus under control. But things got much worse before they got better.

Biden also promised to denuclearize North Korea. But the fat man still has nukes and conducted over 100 ballistic missile test launches during Biden's term in office.

I could go on, but hopefully you get the idea.

I blamed egg prices on bird flu before the election and I blame egg prices on bird flu now. And I really don’t understand why either side has made such a huge deal out of it anyway.
Many of us know this but the poor stupid idiots who think Trump can control the markets when there are things like bird flu and they voted for him but they are the big problem
