125lb Midlands field

That would not be good.
I think it would be good for Lee to get a feel for him now. That seems to have been the issue with a couple guys at nationals lately. They aren't seeing some of this top end talent often enough to know adjustments to make. I know they have wrestled before, but I'm sure each has evolved to some degree.

I don't know the kid, but knowing what he did for state finals in h.s., this would surprise the hell out of me that he'd be on board with this.
You are right. The arrangement of just a cpl matches was for UNI tourn. Assuming no set backs and everything going well at Midlands it will be at the very least keep wrestling unles spencer should lose. Which I really do not see happening.

Suriano may be able to keep it close at Midlands but I think Spencer is going to take this match out of reach quickly when on top. As far as down the road, if Lee goes, he can and will beat Nato because Nato knows how to lose to Hawks during crunch time. And he is a better wrestler than Nato.

Maybe Tom and Lee have come to agree that if he makes the finals he will forfiet to N.S.. Wait n meet him at big tens if they pull the shirt.

I would think what happened at states would be reason to not push it too hard just yet.

I know what you are saying. But COMPLETLEY different scenarios. At state he was wrestling essentially with one knee. A torn ligament. And maybe he was told by his Dr that he couldn't hurt it any more but when you have one injured ligament you are at risk of tearing others due to the overall weakness of the joint.

Vs now where he has a surgically repaired knee(albeit not maybe at 100%) and has been going hard with other collegiate wrestlers(and older like Gilman)

Like i said in an earlier post, if he isn't ready to wrestle Suriano, then he probably shouldn't be wrestling. You can get hurt wrestling any level of competition or hell even when you are drilling. Ask T Bridgewater or D Watson about how easy it is to hurt a knee without competition

The original plan was that Spencer would wrestle just a couple matches at UNI but since he didn’t go much into even the 2nd period that changed. Plus what would everyone have thought if he had medically forfeited his third match?
If he is thinking about only wrestling 2 or 3 matches, which is understandable, I hope they announce that plan in advance, so it doesn't look like ducking. Of course if they announce it in advance, the Midlands folks might accidentally pair him up 1st round with Suriano. If he only wrestles 3 matches, I think we can safely assume he is not going full bore with Gilman etc,, as that would be way worse on a knee than several matches against worse opponents. I would say that would mean he is redshirting as well, which is fine by me.
