With the recent bench struggles, the lack of contribution from the 2014 class is apparent. Fran did an outstanding job in recognizing Ulis' talent early in the process, but once he hit the national tournaments, Iowa had no chance to secure his commitment. Three more under-the-radar recruits who visited that year & would certainly be in Iowa's rotation are Riley LaChance (Vanderbilt), Willie Atwood (Arizona State) & Tory Miller (Colorado). Each player is contributing to their team this season (averaging between 16-27 minutes per game). Uhl has talent & flashes @ times, but Ellingson future appears to be as a role player at best and, of course, Dickerson is thankfully gone. I'm not one who typically looks in the past, but thought I'd raise the point. Fran has demonstrated an eye for talent. With the recent success, I'm excited in Fran's ability to recruit higher-level players who are able to contribute in their true freshman year. Cook appears to be in that category.

Let me translate. We were just starting to get really excited about Uhl and Baer. And even Ellingson had a good game where he hit a couple threes. But these guys have been struggling so lets think about if they compare "lately" with these other three guys.

You see what I did there. Expanded on that word "recent". Kind of puts the rest of your first sentence in doubt. ;)

Fran's got a great eye for talent. Atwood didn't do much last year, sometimes it takes a juco a year to adjust. Crazy thing is Baer may be the best of the bunch.
