2018 Recruiting- How do they finish the class?

Local article on Spencer Petras. If he decided to recommit from osu, and we were able to land him, I would be extremely excited about the future of Iowa's offense. His passing aptitude is incredible and he shows remarkable agility and fluidity running the ball.

Looks like Baldwin is favoring the Bucks. I hope the staff is working hard on landing Petras! He would be the toast of the 18 class if he committed.

I went back and looked at cmhawks99 posts and there is no similarity to my posts. HawkeyeDenny knows who I am and he even came on and told you that you were wrong. But you just keep having fun with your little delusion and making a moron out of yourself. When people want to have civil, intelligent conversations, I'll be glad to do that. If you act like an idiot, I'll be glad to let you know. That's my 'style'.
Haha, you're not fooling me Chad. I'm still trying to wrap my head around why you decided to log back into your cmhawks99 account that hasn't been active for 4 months the same day I call you out for being the same poster. Not very tactful, how in the world did you think that would look? Did you really think that "misdirection" would fool anyone? You even referenced me in one of his posts despite my limited interactions in the past with him.

For your next handle, try changing your posting style up a little bit, which includes dropping the random 4-letter word capitalization thing you have going, for things like "YOUR" or "WHAT".

Pretty sad really. Just stick to talking football under the same handle and you'll be fine. This just looks... well, sad.

Recruiting has been poor for far too long.

How do you figure? I will agree that Iowa occasionally runs into bad bouts of attrition. Furthermore, there have been the occasional poor patches here and there that hurt (like the '09 and '11 classes) .... but some of those classes had players who got so nicked-up that they never contributed much (Riley McMinn is a classic "what-if" case that comes to my mind ... kid was similar to Anthony Nelson in many respects ... but could never stay healthy).

More recently, when we got Greg Davis as an OC and then Kennedy as the WR coach ... we arguably made a few too many compromises with OL recruiting at the expense of keeping up the number of RBs and WRs. Having depth at RB has proven to be a bit of a life-saver ... but too many of the WRs never contributed.

I'm on record stating in several times already ... Iowa's recruiting classes, especially starting with the '16 class ... really seem to have found a nice balance of having guys who have plenty of talent, but who also really "fit" the program.

We will eventually suffer some attrition with these more recent classes - because Ferentz's developmental, blue-collar philosophy naturally "filters" guys who aren't willing to embrace the grind. However, the rest of the attrition we'll likely have will be comprised of guys who decide to place elsewhere due to playing-time concerns.

If you look at this recruiting that I'm speaking of ... it is a significant contributor to why both Marc Morehouse and myself are quite bullish about Iowa's chances of AT LEAST winning a B1G west divisional title (if not more) in the near future.

NorthDSMHawk -
Chad's MO has always been to drift off-line during the season. Usually, right before the season he goes "radio-silent" ... and then he doesn't kick back in until the off-season (usually more the spring or summer). Frankly, this year, he posted more entering the season than he has in years prior. However, true to form (as he always does), he went dormant.

Chad has never worried about pissing off people before and he doesn't hide who he is (Chad McCleary - a dude who lives in eastern Illinois). Thus, what you're suggesting really isn't in character for Chad.

Homer, I respect you and think you're a good poster. But it's the same guy, no doubt. Unless you really think that the same day I call Muskie on it Chad magically decides to log back in and references me in a post. Think it through.

In the end, I really don't care enough about this line of inquiry ... I spend time on these boards because I like to talk football (and football recruiting). However, I urge you to post however you wish.

Agreed, I've spent enough time and effort looking back and old posts and connecting the dots anyway. I really don't care anymore. Look forward to more of your posts Homer.

I knew a Chad McCleary who was in the witness protection program. I sure hope you haven't outed him.

Looks like PSU is losing a safety in their 2018 class. I wonder if they will try to poach Brents now?

Honas and Craddieth both visit next weekend along with a bunch of our current verbal commitments. Hope we get em.

SPENCER PETRAS update. California QB looking to visit Hawks by Dec. 21. Landing this kid could be a more plausible scenario than I first thought. Major morale booster for the fan base were we to get a commitment. He has NFL caliber QB written all over him.

That would be an outstanding finish David. Homer, I didn't see your post earlier but I don't think there is much debating that the success early in the 2000s or what came from 2009 time frame or even 2015 was great. If a guy has been somewhere for 19 years you would think there would be a consistent and gradual improvement as he built relations. It's all good I think the new guys have recruiting and incoming talent as a higher priority.

QB Cade Fortin just de-committed from Texas A&M. I believe we already have an offer out to him. Worth taking another look if one of our other QB offers doesn't work out.

I think Stoops and Lockett will join this weekend. The big question though is can they convince Honas and Cradieth to join up. It seems like Cradieth might be the most difficult one because he has stated he might wait until the second signing period.

Both Petras and Cradieth are now 4 stars. I still don't understand why Linderbaum hasn't been upgraded after becoming a Army All American.

He committed to Iowa to soon...if he had waited and been serenaded by the masses he would have been a 4*.

Lockett, Petras and Craddieth all visiting this weekend. Wouldn’t those all be sweet! Honas would be nice too, but I want to see what Christian Welsch can do inside. Big and athletic. I wish we were not looking to JUCOS for linebackers.

This class has the potential to round out very nicely. 4 more solid guys to go along with yesterday's Waggoner commit would make 18 one of the better classes this decade!

Lockett down Iowa and USF. Will he stay home or can Marcus Paschal sway him to the right choice?

How typical. Cmhawk came back on and responded to some of my post and is posting regularly, so of course you won't admit you were WRONG, you don't just really don't care anymore. There a few of us 'real men' on here that admit when we're wrong, but you ain't one of them. I can tell you're an 'alternative fact' kind of person.

great logic, we should just keeping sucking ass at the position. JFC.
Iowa has two commits at receiver, and is looking to add one more with Lockett. They took four last year. Seven in two classes seems like they are indeed addressing the need. They are trying to secure a commitment from one QB. Is the logic here that Iowa should have wide receivers at QB along with four other offensive positions? Everyone agrees they need better receivers, but I’m not sure where the outrage is here?

They only have one right now, Tracy. Evans mentioned that he's gonna start out as a RB recently.

He's posting regularly because you sit at your computer and switch logins. Pretty sad really. I stopped responding because I think there is something wrong/unstable about you.

Get the F* away from craddith wiscy! It wouldn't be a killer to not get him, but it sure would be nice if we did.

With Craddieth, Brents, Hooker and Stone in the program at the same time. The battles for playing time will be epic. Oh and can't forget about Clayberg.

They could be finished with the class in the early signing period. That would be pretty huge for them as they could turn their entire focus to next year's class.
