Horrible game against Syracuse today! Is fatigue a factor? Why on earth doesn’t coach play some other players who are itching to get some action? Doster? Burns? klosterman? I see multiple transfers at season end unless things change.
There were 9 or 10 hits in this game. There were 9 hits yesterday. We haven’t had timely hitting the last couple games. We had the opportunity in the 1st inning with 2 runners on and no outs to get the early lead and left them stranded. That’s not fatigue. Pitching got banged up today. Burns is hurt and hasn’t been cleared to play. All hands on deck for sure. Keep banging!
Curious to go with a fourth starting pitcher. Very rare to use a four-pitcher rotation any time, but really strange when the first three have pitched lights out. Odd to use such a deep bench with the pitchers, yet start the same eight position players all nine games.

Hawks beat Bethune Cookman 5-3.
In the nightcap fought hard against #1 UCLA losing 2-1. Hawks led until the fifth inning. Adams threw a great game and there were some good defensive plays. Only 1 UCLA run was earned (off a HR). Great effort.

Hawks played very well. Bennett had a great diving play, Jackson had a nice play to turn 2. But mostly, it was Adams on the mound that keep us in it. I really that that she could do this, but until you see it, it's tough to know for sure. Long was to go, but in every opportunity she has had, she had been successful. And with probably the 2 best teams, Miss St, and UCLA, I think she has thrown 11 or so innings, with 1 ER. We can build on that!
She's still young, but a great start!
First game Leocker had another HR. Carter had 3 hits or so. Romana, #9, had a hit or 2. Banes with a hit. Not a great team, and only won by 2, so need to work on that a little. I'm sure I am missing some good things.
Loecker with the complete game on the mound as well.
Just hope to get some games in tomorrow. Doesn't look promising.

I think they gained some respect playing ucla that close. And I think Adams is on her way to becoming our star pitcher!
Down 2-0 in btm 1 against Cal now. 2 out 2-1 count 2 run HR for Cal. Vasquez pitching.
Loecker came in and pitched 4 innings. We had a 4-2 lead in the 6th. Got into a little trouble and Adams game in and they scored 3 on a 2 run HR, and passed ball. 5-4 them btm 6.
Had bases juiced in btm of 7, but couldn't pull it off. Carter with a lead off double and a couple walks. But couldn't get the big hit.
Hawks get a much needed win verses CSUN 4-3. Loecker walks it off in the bottom of the 7th with a 1 out, 2 RBI single to RF scoring Carter and Roman.

Tough 2-1 loss to Oregon State to finish the weekend. Hawks drop to 8-6 on the year. Next weekend is the Central Arkansas tournament. This may be a tougher weekend than what it may appear. Central Ark is 11-2 with their only losses being close losses to LSU at LSU. Neb Omaha is 7-3 with wins over ISU, Drake and UNI. Two of their losses are to rated Texas with one being a 1 run game. South Dakota is 5-8 but has wins over Drake and UNI. Alcorn State is 3-9.

To me the issue seems to be not get timely hits in our close losses. For the most part we have gotten a fair amount of hits and walks and limited our strikeouts this year, but in the losses we just did not get a crucial hit when we needed it. Curious what anyone else thinks. Overall 8-6 isn't bad, but it feels like we could have won a few of the close games (two extra innings and two one run losses)

In a way, we're actually very consistent. Playing to the level of our opponent and finding a way to lose by 1-2 runs no matter who it is...UCLA/Cal or Florida Atlantic/South Dakota.
Vasquez as been the ace the last two seasons. Why waste her arm against Alcorn St? I could get the 'W' against Alcorn St.
Hawks win over a good Central Ark team 2-1 in 9 innings and beat Omaha 6-1.
A good start to the Spring Games. Hawks pick up victories over a good South Alabama team 4-2 and Chattanooga 6-0. Banes with a three run shot in the first game; Vasquez and Loecker throw a shut out in game 2.
Princeton and Lehigh up tomorrow. Lehigh is 10-2 with a win at #7 Alabama earlier this year.

Glad Klosterman was given a chance to play today. Very good defensive player, solid at the plate. Veteran player for our young team.
Hawks pick up a win over Lafayette this morning 8-0 in 5 innings. Vasquez took a perfect game into the 5th and only gave up one hit. Hawks are 16-9 with the final tournament games in Tampa this weekend. Tough games with Texas, USF, Lehigh (again) and Marist.

Hawks beat Marist in 11 innings. Vasquez gets the win, but Greer and Henderson threw some good innings. Klosterman with the walk off winner. 3 for 5 in the game. Carter, Diaz with 3 hits each. Sounds like Loecker may have gotten injured in the game.

Hawks beat a pretty good USF team in front of a really nice home crowd. Started of a little slow, was down 4-0 in the 2nd. Then the rain came. Rained very hard for 10 min or so. USF got the tarp out on the field very quickly. They have to practice that, they were very efficient.
Anyways, the over hour delay let the Hawks regroup. Came out swinging the bats very well. Banes broke the ice with a 2 run triple. The next inning, Klosterman hit a 3 run bomb to take a 5-4. Next inning after a couple hard hit singles, Roster hit a grand slam HR to put us up 8.
Bennet had several hard hits, and I think Banes did as well.
Vasquez pitch a complete game giving up 4. I think one of those was unearned.

Nice to see Klosterman and Doster hit homers against USF. That was a great win; played Texas well, too.

Hawks split with Nebraska today. We're now 21-13 and 3-2. 21 wins and 3 conference wins ties our totals from last season.
Northwestern is probably the best team in the Big Ten. Would be nice to take a game from them.
