*** #21 Iowa vs Wisconsin WBB Game ***

I like O'Grady's game quite a bit. Gets up and down the floor well, and appears that she has the potential to have a more versatile game than Monika and what Megan did while she was here (I think Megan was capable of more, but in the system, she was brutally effective with what she did). Confidence will continue to grow, and I think she'll be a goody!

I am very curious to see if the coaching staff will embrace O'Grady's potential for offensive versatility, or shape her more to the mold of Czinano and Gustafson to fit the system as is. I think most important is we just really need O'Grady to get tougher on the glass and have a bit quicker reaction time on defense against faster and better teams. She's looked fantastic against lesser competition (Truman State, Evansville, Wisconsin) but struggled to have as much impact versus similarly skilled players. Obviously things are improving and will continue to improve with more experience.

I believe she has very good chance to make the B1G All-Freshman team. What I have noticed about Addison is her agility, mobility, coordination and ambidexterity. She also seems to have fairly refined offensive skills with a soft shooting touch. Who knows, if the Hawkeyes can finish the season strong and if Addison continues to have an important impact, she could be in the discussion for B1G Freshman of the Year. I know that is two “ifs”, but I am hoping.

A lot I think will depend on how the team unfolds next year. This season we kind of need her to be a Monika clone as we have so few bodies at the 4/5. But next season with Wetering and Goodman healthy and the addition of Gyamafi and Stuelke there's more room to experiment. If Monika returns (which there isa decent possibility) and Goodman is 100% I expect we'll see more versatility with O'Grady sliding over to the 4 at times and looking for shots in space. She has struggled some this year with her shooting outside of 10 feet but she's very strong within 10 feet.

I am pro O’Grady as well, but all Freshman team or Freshman of the year is a bridge too far. Markowski (Neb. 16.5 ppg) and Ekh (MSU 14.7) will battle for Freshman of the year. Kapinus (PSU 10.55) seems like a good bet for the all frosh team, as does Walsh (NW just under 9 ppg; 5th in blocks). Phelia (Mich 7.13), and Weidner (Neb. 7.10) have put themselves in position for post-season honors.

O’Grady at 3.45 ppg in conference play is not in the conversation for the all Freshman team, at least at this juncture.

Add Shyanne Sellers of Maryland to your list. 7.5ppg on 25mpg. plus some assists and steals.

Correct. It was good Iowa could get a win short-handed against Wisconsin, but any judgements after results against Wisconsin need to be tempered given the ability of the opponent. The bottom half of the Big 10 on the women's side is absolutely dreadful. It's such a shocking contrast as there are some very good teams near the top. But Wisconsin, Illinois, Rutgers, Penn State, Minnesota just end up getting annihilated against the better teams. Have not seen it that imbalanced in a while.
