Your chart says Delta CFR is 0.3% (0.2% to 0.5% range) for "28 day followup"

Currently YOUNG adults and CHILDREN make up MOST of the cases.
So, what were CFRs for the early Covid variants in those age groups?

5-17 yrs: 0.011%
18-29 yrs: 0.043%
30-49 yrs: 0.135%
40-49 yrs: 0.365%

0.3% is monstrously HIGH
if we're claiming MOST (80%) of the new cases are in YOUNG PEOPLE. Alpha was <0.05% for that demographic.

I don't know if this is true or not. Could be. But if people are more easily infected, the net death toll could still be higher.

And keep in mind that death toll is not the only measure of harm the virus can cause. Economic damage and long term health impairment are other non-trivial harms.

Do you have a link for your claim about the lower fatality rate? I'd like to see some real data.

This is pretty interesting. I missed it earlier.

I wish I knew how much the vaccines (and improved treatments) are influencing the numbers for the more recent variants.
There are articles around this explaining that, but I won't post them because people on here will consider them right leaning sites and simply not read the data and discount it because of the source and not the actual data. However, considering the Israel article I just posted and the amount of cases they have had with vaccinated people, it's safe to say the vaccine is hardly foolproof.

That's NOT what I posted.

What I posted shows you the Delta variant is MORE deadly in the demographic it is currently infecting.

0.3% is a HIGHER number than any of those demographic groups experienced early in the pandemic.

A pathogen ...any pathogen...that is easily transmitted (and also has a lengthy incubation period) is most assuredly NOT limited in virulence. Why would it be? A more virulent pathogen has an evolutionary advantage as detailed above. So you either explain in detail why it can't evolve to become more virulent or you admit you're full of shit as usual.

It's exactly what you've claimed. Multiple times. So why don't you explain why a virus that is easily transmitted with a long incubation period is constrained from becoming more virulent. Just explain how that is prevented by evolutionary principles. Should be simple.

(BTW, that you have now limited your claim to "resporatory viruses" didn't pass unnoticed. So now, I suppose, they possess an evolutionary mechanism that differs from all other viruses. Fascinating. Really.)
