Ok - I am not an esteemed D1 football coach, but hear me out.

2nd down and 6 or 8 - why not at least once go deep. Not 13 yards deep - but F’n sling as far as you can throw it deep.

Possible results:

1 - WR catches it - GREAT
2 - Pass Interference - GREAT
3 - Incomplete Pass - ok, but now they cant stack the box as much - GOOD
4 - Interception - since it was a bomb pass, ends up being similar to a punt - GOOD (because at least you accomplished No 3)

Ok - where is the downside on this, and why do our million dollar+ coaches not see this?

Woah, woah, woah, woah, woah. Just hold your horses there cowboy. We don't need any of that kind of malarkey in these parts of the football world.
