3/5-10 Other Games (B1G & bubble, etc) thread, official or otherwise

They are 3 of 14 from 3 number 3 has been terrible jacking up 3s off balance and contested

Exactly.

Also, Hawks own 2 wins against Minnesota and 1 loss @ IU. So a MINN win tonight is better in that way, too.
The quality wins might not matter if we lose to Illinois and then end up having to play Purdue on Friday. Sure if we beat Illinois then it would be more beneficial for Minnesota to win but if we lose to Illinois it's not going to be very helpful.

I know but its not a bad thing to root against the hoosiers

I thought Carver was dead...the Barn is tomb-like.
And the gophers are playing like zombies.

They are 0 for forever from 3 yet never estabished garcia and the other big men inside

Good for Iowa's metrics that ISU won and have done really well this year, but I will never consciously root for the Clones. Ever.

Like you said, their fans are utterly insufferable.
The floor microphones constantly pick up their swearing every game with calls they don’t like or agree with.

The pics of their fans at Hilton trying to "mean mug tough guy" Bill Self and KU after games vs Kansas there. One is of a middle-aged guy being 'held back' by his wife.

Hilarious stuff and tells you everything you need to know about the fanbase.

Not a bubble game or anything, but I thought this kinda score only happened between top women's teams and a cupcake ...

Halftime of WCCT first round game; Pepperdine 56 - Pacific 9.

oh-damn.gif

Nothing like a game that is on pace for a 112-18 finish.

F* Chuckie Hepburn.

Not hard to be "great" at stealing the ball when refs are gonna let you reach and hack to your hearts content.

Take the 5 oldest and most out of shape people on this forum, at we could have at LEAST scored 10 points by halftime.

Simpson just did what Hepburn was doing constantly earlier - reach-around tip away - but a foul on him there and none on Hepburn.

Is Wisconsin anywhere close to the bubble if they lose this game at home against Rutgers?

They are up by 2 at half.

They are 2-7 over the last 9 games. Woof.
Final game is at Purdue.
Sitting at 18-11

They would probably get Minnesota in the Big and then play Illinois if they were to win. Could see them losing the next three games pretty easily.

IDC if Wisconsin's metrics say they're an NCAA lock; they're a bubble team at best currently.

Agreed
How you finish the season should matter. But I'm sure they are getting a nice bump for beating Marquette... Over THREE months ago. While only winning 2 games since 1/26. They had a really bad February.... Now bleeding into March if they drop this at home to Rutgers.

For sake of argument, assuming Hawks win Sunday.

That said, you want the 5-seed in the BTT or the 6?

Rutgers wins tonight, and Hawks will be the 5 (if beat ILL Sunday night). I just do not see Wisconsin winning at Purdue Sunday afternoon.

Wisconsin wins tonight, Iowa probably ends up as the 6 seed - based on tiebreakers - even if the Hawks beat the Illini.

Wow.

Was just messing around with the BTT predictor page and Hawks can still get a double-bye (4-seed) even with Wisconsin winning tonight, and Iowa beats ILL on Sunday. But need a game or two to not go "by the script'".

bolded teams = winners this weekend

Minnesota @ Northwestern OR Minnesota @ Northwestern
Wisconsin @ Purdue
Michigan St @ Indiana
Nebraska
@ Michigan OR Nebraska @ Michigan
Illinois @ IOWA
Maryland @ Penn St - this result doesn't effect anything

And the Hawks can jump up to the 3-seed if Minnesota and Michigan win.

Basically, we need to be huuuge Michigan fans if desperately want that double bye.

Pitt beating NC State kinda late.

NW opened the game running away from Minnesota, but Minnesota has answered a bit.

NC State making a late run now. Cut it from 14 to 4 with 4 minutes left.

New Mexico in a track meet at Utah State. 2nd half is sure to be electric there.

New Mex definitely on bubble,
This loss would hurt. They would have to win 2 in their tourney to feel safe if they lose.

Since its quite likely that NW will hold on to this game - meaning the Hawks' chance at the BTT 3-seed is out - I would rather Iowa beats ILL but ends up as the 6th seed next week.

So, here's the results I'm looking for tomorrow with the final day of the 2024 B1G regular season;

Nebraska @ Michigan = Nebraska
Wisconsin @ Purdue = Purdue
Ohio St @ Rutgers = Ohio St
Michigan St @ Indiana = Michigan St
Illinois @ Iowa = IOWA
Maryland @ Penn St = Maryland*

*
This result is big, if rest plays out as listed. Maryland wins, they are the 11 seed (Ohio St the 9-seed in this scenario). Penn St wins, Ohio St drops to the 11.

IF results are as hoping above, sets up what would be Iowa's run to the BTTCG as; take on the 11 Maryland vs 14 Michigan winner on Thursday night. Nebraska on Friday night. 2 Illinois vs 7 MSU/10 Minnesota winner on Saturday afternoon and top-half of bracket survivor on Sunday afternoon.

Not sure if UNM is actually on the bubble or not, or more towards a lock, but would rather USU wins that one.

They have a very bad recent home loss against Air Force and now they may drop 2 Q1 opportunities late. Things were much brighter for them just a couple weeks ago.
