#3 in the AP. wow

Oklahoma loses, stays #1?

Probably, but I think what you're seeing is CBS sports own poll, not the AP, as the OU still #1 would help demonstrate. UNC will be #1 in AP.

They have 2 losses to top 15 teams, and plenty of top 50 wins. Just because you lose a game in a week doesn't mean you should automatically move down, and that is a common misconception. I do think North Carolina is number 1, with Oklahoma at 2 though.

Oklahoma lost a close game on the road against a top 15 team. With everyone else losing I don't see them dropping from #1. No one else has really taken it from them. Their 2 losses were at ISU and KU in very tight games. Those are better losses than at UNI, sorry Panther fans

It is the AP poll. Coaches' have us at #4. It is also nice to see Notre Dame at #25 (OK, I hate ND, but that helps our RPI/SOS, right?) Dayton is the first team out, so they are #26.

Having said that, all we need to do is keep winning and it will all take care of itself. HUGE game at Maryland and then we need to hold serve against NW and PSU at home.

I like that Maryland didn't fall too far with their loss to MSU.

Would be an amazing win for us

So now I 3 losses are to 2 top 25 teams (ND and ISU) and a 16-3 Dayton team. BTW, Iowa is #2 in the Kenpom ratings

Higher than I thought possible, but I would have bet a lot of money against beating MSU and Purdue twice and being 7-0. If the Hawks keep focusing on the next game and improving each week, they have shown that anything is possible. There is no team that is clearly better than the next twenty this year.

Four weeks ago in the poll released Dec. 28, MSU was #1 and the Hawkeyes weren't even ranked. What a run.

The Hawkeyes are playing with a lot of confidence, right now. Yet, they can play better.
They will HAVE to be on their A game, for the Twerps on Thursday.
#goHawks

Also all of our losses have been to current top 50 RPI teams. It's pretty amazing that after Thursday Iowa will have played as many games against top 50 teams in the RPI (10) as they have those ranked 51+.

24 Duke 15-5 145
25 Notre Dame 14-5 136

Don't know if anyone noticed but Wichita St. moved into the Top 25 this week as well. That's 5 convincing wins over top 25 opponents.

Beat Maryland and its ours to lose. Even losing twice to Indiana will still keep us in consideration for a 2 seed, possibly a 1 seed. Beat MD and split Indiana, hard to argue against a #1 seed (granted if we win the games we're supposed to)

With a young Mich team improving (getting votes), I think the last game of the season in Ann Arbor is as tough as any left on the conference schedule. We dodged Levert, projected 1st round, at home. He is supposed to be back well in time for the Iowa game.

Also all of our losses have been to current top 50 RPI teams. It's pretty amazing that after Thursday Iowa will have played as many games against top 50 teams in the RPI (10) as they have those ranked 51+.
Franklin, that's a great stat. I give it "stat of the day!"

I could see three more losses for us max on the remaining schedule, including this Thursday...the other two coming from one of these four: INDx2, OSU, Mich.

If we win the BTT then we definitely are a #1 seed.

Hawks are in a strong position, but fan expectations seem to be skyrocketing. There are still plenty of games left that are not close to a sure win. Players and Fran have it right--one game at a time. I hope fans aren't going to go nuts when the Hawks lose a couple of games.

I said we should fire Fran after the meltdown earlier this year after big leads. . Oops!
Obviously bb coaching is not my forte. Lol
