These guys over achieved to be now 11-10 in Big10 play. If you look at the teams B1G stats, last in defense points allowed, last in overall FG% defense, last in 3pt % defense, and offensively only middle of the pack shooting the ball....they managed to parlay some Hot shooting games into some good wins and packed all their turd games into woodshed beatings.
The gotta be knocking down the 3ball to beat anyone in a BTT or NCAA tournament game.

Those stats only strengthen my belief that Fran knows his players well, especially Connor. He’s been saying for 5 years, “Connor does a lot of things that don’t show up in the stats.” Lol. Yeah, literally Fran. Big zeroes across the board.
He nervously dribbles between his legs every now and then 40 feet from the basket. It’s an impressive move.
I know, a lot of people on here are acting like this has been a remarkable overachieving season. It really hasn't been. This team loses the first game in the NCAA and it's just a normal Fran coach team that can't win in March. No Kris and Filip next year is very concerning. Add in the way transferring is and somebody could unexpectedly leave knowing Kris and Filip leaves some huge holes to fill next year.
Next year is looking not great. Tony and Sandfort are going to need a ton of help.

typical fran......"if you can't tell what CMAC brings to the table, you don't know Basketball." Granted CMAC is usually good for 1-2 nifty passes, it isn't enough when he's not able to guard his guy or make 3pt shots.
The strange thing is how many posters on this board have so much loyalty for Fran and Connor and really don't give a crap that Iowa is just average in B1G.
CMAC fans just re-mouth the same thing....if you can't see what CMAC brings to table, you don't know basketball.......weak sauce....this year CMAC played decent..still not worth of 35 mpg.... however it really was the other 2 years he started and him playing ahead of Keegan and Kris that was gross abuse of nepotism by Fran. Kris and Keegan are NBA level talents on defense/offense....CMAC has never played at NBA level.
Sandfort's defense is atrocious. Zero lateral quickness.
I have a strong feeling Perkins is gone.
Fran's recruiting has fallen off to if we are relying on 2 guys from Moline to be saviors. Recruit athletes and change to more defensive minded and play up tempo with druving to the rim.
I mean who’s defense is good on iowa. Rebraca plays solid defense. Not really anyone else comes to mind.
We have some really good players coming in next year. I don't care where they come from, just how they play and those guys from Moline have been playing some great teams and players this year and playing well. They are for real and so is Ladje and Pryce i also expect something to happen in the portal this year also.
If Kris M. is NBA ready then the NBA is in a sad state. Thank you Filip Rebraca for being consistent, for understanding your strengths, knowing what your role is in the offense, not trying to do too much, and at least trying to play defense---wish you had help.
Kris is a very good defender.
He’s a decent defender. I’m not sure anyone on this team can even come close to being called a very good defender.
He will struggle with the physicality of the NBA.
No, Fran ran off his best defender. He plays for West Virginia now. Joe Toussaint brought mental toughness to the game….a trait that Fran doesn’t recruit. I know Joe could get sideways at times and the turn the ball over. But he was one tough defender.

He played his ass off every second he was on the floor. Defense came first for him and he never let his offense dictate how he defended. Something that’s missing badly on this team, and really a majority or frans teams.
Plus he was beat repeatedly off the bounce

I get tired of people who don't commenting on a game they aren't familiar with.
You have to understand that Frans idea of defense is not fouling. He doesn't care about stops.
You can’t expect a guy playing the 4 in the big ten to play high level defense while also avoiding contact.
The nba is less physical than college.
Kris will be a catch and shoot guy at the next level just like Keegan is. Not a lot of physicality in that role to begin with.
That stat line is impressive, in an almost-impossible-to-do sort of way.
Fran chose to play Jbo's offense over Joe T's D. Fran proved in the tournament game last year that he valued offense over defense. He had a really good defensive team last year and chose to play JBo over Joe T and Connor over Kris. That was the turning point for me for wanting to get rid of Fran. It convinced me that he'll never change.
Dix is pretty solid on D. Sometimes undersized, but holds up pretty well even then.
Good points. Now we just need a coach that can install a culture of defense and toughness. I know it will not happen, but it would be an ideal time to make a coaching change.
I have been a huge defender of Connor, but he has been lousy the past few games, after being really good most of the B1G season. Kudos to OSU, who outplayed the Hawks today, especially on the perimeter. Only 5 turnovers for OSU today to 12 for the Hawks.
Good game by Rebraca, who Iowa is going to miss. We better find at least one high quality big in the portal (preferably 2), or next year is going to be very difficult. Good and bad from Tony, who made a lot of good aggressive plays, but also too many bonehead plays. Kris just didn't have his outside shot again, and with Payton getting zero 3-pt attempts, that made it really hard to win.
Please don't bring up officiating. There were some missed calls, but overall it was OK.

In the last 10 games including today, Connor is 10/45 shooting. Basically all 45 shots are wide open minus maybe a few late in the shot clock 3’s. So we’ll call it 40 wide open shots. He doesn’t have to be a scorer but needs to be better than that.
Agree with the lateral quickness.
Can be a great shooter when he's on.
Not sure about Tony.
