We have some really good players coming in next year. I don't care where they come from, just how they play and those guys from Moline have been playing some great teams and players this year and playing well. They are for real and so is Ladje and Pryce i also expect something to happen in the portal this year also.
I hope you're right, I feel a bit shaky on next years team.

In the last 10 games including today, Connor is 10/45 shooting. Basically all 45 shots are wide open minus maybe a few late in the shot clock 3’s. So we’ll call it 40 wide open shots. He doesn’t have to be a scorer but needs to be better than that.
That’s the thing constantly overlooked about cmac. No one ever guards him on the perimeter. He gets wide open shots that most college basketball players never get. It also gives him better passing angles.
Basically he’s never pressured.

I did not see the game, I was at work listening to it on the radio, and I'll see it tonight. Just curious if any of you that did see the game, noticed Kris fade away on his 3 point attempts. Rob Hummel keeps bringing that up, and from what I see, he's right. His shooting % is not good when he fades away.

He didn't fade away near as much tonight. Had a couple in and out.

I would be shocked if Bowen returns. To not even get an opportunity when the rest of the backcourt looks this bad shows me coach doesn't want him here.

I'll be surprised if Tony comes back; why come play without Kris and Filip with what else he'd have to work with? He can go be an important player on a team that can make a run.

This is an example of someone who looks at the points scored and decides whether someone played well, without watching what goes on between baskets.
How many times did Connor get blown by on defense?!? How many times did the defense literally sag on him, just begging him to shoot? You are right, you have to go beyond the box score to look at his impact on the game for sure.

That clearly hasn't been true for a couple years.

Teams do defend him, with ease, and he almost never gets an open shot so he only gets a couple shots a game off.

Hes basically a non factor on offense, outside of yelling at his teammates and pointing, because he is so easy to defend.

Do you watch him watch as the guy he's guarding blows by or elevates over him? Do you watch when he's slow to rotate? Do you when he watches shots go up and doesn't make any effort to box anyone out? I watch....

I have been a huge defender of Connor, but he has been lousy the past few games, after being really good most of the B1G season. Kudos to OSU, who outplayed the Hawks today, especially on the perimeter. Only 5 turnovers for OSU today to 12 for the Hawks.

Good game by Rebraca, who Iowa is going to miss. We better find at least one high quality big in the portal (preferably 2), or next year is going to be very difficult. Good and bad from Tony, who made a lot of good aggressive plays, but also too many bonehead plays. Kris just didn't have his outside shot again, and with Payton getting zero 3-pt attempts, that made it really hard to win.

Please don't bring up officiating. There were some missed calls, but overall it was OK.
Very sensible post. Need more of these.

He just looks tired to me. Also, when he takes it to the hole, he likes to turn back in the direction he came from. Ohio State had that figured out.

If you go back to my original post, I said Connor has played lousy the last few games. OSU is a particularly bad match up for him, where he got stuck guarding Sensabaugh (sp?), who probably will be playing in the NBA in a couple of years. Connor usually does a decent job of boxing out, but sometimes guys go right over him, since he is usually guarding a bigger player. Connor was a big part of several of Iowa's biggest wins, and if you and other Mac haters don't believe that, we will just agree to disagree.

Rank the current Iowa players according to what they have contributed this year. I think Connor would be 3rd or 4th, depending on whether the aggressive Perkins shows up.
Rebraca, Kris, Sandfort, Perkins. Are you serious? He’s probably top three in minutes tho!

You rank Sandfort higher than I would, because I think he is the second worst defender in the rotation behind Patrick. When Sandfort is cooking, which wasn't always the case, he was great.

He would probably be 4th, but part of that is a function of how many minutes he played and how few some others played. Could Dix and/or Sandfort had a bigger impact with some of those minutes can't be known. The only consistently high quality starters in the lineup this year were Kris and Filip. Perkins was hit and miss, Cmac and Ulis were mostly missing. It would have been interesting to see what could have been had Sandfort started at the 3 or 4 and Dix replaced Ulis in the starting lineup, leaving Cmac, Ulis and Pmac to come off the bench.

The one thing that would have worried me about that rotation, would be PMAC and CMAC first 2 off the bench every game. I think Sandfort is better than both of them, but also you need some bench scoring and if our 3 main guys off the bench can't score we would have been in trouble.

If you dont know why the root issue of this dumb question is the problem after 3 years of the same shit is obvious, i dont know what to tell you man

I'll be honest, I never thought Perkins would possibly leave, but he could be an important piece in a top 10 program if he would decide to transfer. No Murray, no Rebraca, unless we do some things in the portal not sure what's going to happen.

The people in the NBA sure think he's ready. Every scouting service pretty much has him going early to mid 1st round. I'll agree he doesn't shoot it as well or handle as well as his brother. Still a good player.
Certainly he's a good player, hell very good, but how many "good players" get drafted early to mid first round? I still think these draft projections are him riding Keegans success. Kris has been pretty inconsistent against good teams, and frankly has disappeared in some of those. Don't see how that makes you a top 15 pick, but hey, I'm not an NBA scout, so.....

OK? What game were you watching?

Here's the deal: Fran, perhaps naively, coaches his players to play according to the rules. that means no grabbing, holding, bumping or all the other things that "great" defenses do that the refs will allow because "They can't call everything". The OSU game is a perfect example (not that OSU is a great defensive team but they sure did a lot of bumping and grabbing). Fran also doesn't coach his players to flop, which they could have done on practically every Buckeye drive to the basket as they were leading with their forearm each time.

I don't understand you people. Not every player on the team is going to score double digits every game. And it's not Connor's fault that nobody could hit a shot on any of his would-be assists. Who should be playing in front of him? Dix LOL! Bowen? Please! Toussaint? I cringed every time he came in the game. He finally is doing ok with WV, but a stud he ain't.

Hmmmmm. I wonder why we’ve have trouble recruiting at the point guard position the past six years?!? 🤔

I think you misread my post out of context with all of my other posts that are getting ripped apart for supporting Connor, whose play this year is one of the biggest reasons for Iowa's success. He has not played as well the past few games, in part because of match ups, in part because most of the team hasn't been firing on all cylinders. His facilitation of others does only work when others finish the play.

Ok Genius. Rank the players this year and explain how Connor doesn't make at least the top 5.
