Clinton and Reich were two men America badly needed back in their day. Both were not afraid of telling America the hard and sometimes nasty truths. Both were correct in their appraisal of America and the direction it was heading. What they told us was unpleasant for most to hear because it talked about the unknown and that takes most people outside their comfort zones. Instead many Americans thought it was more important to talk about Reich and the fact he needed a “booster” to stand on to deliver his messages. Real Trump characteristics 20 years before we knew it.
The United States has been operating under Democrat policies and control for nearly 70% of the time since that speech. Is it any surprise people are angry, disgusted and the middle class is under attack? But Trump.

The uber-rich is who have experienced the biggest tax breaks, highest pay raises, and most ability to influence public policy (via Citizen's United, et al).
Now, they have their biggest MAGA cheerleader who owns and directs information on Twitter.
He was referring to what had already happened during the 12 years of Reagan and Bush, Sr., especially Reagan. He laid the groundwork for the unraveling of the middle class with deregulation of laws that protected the middle class prior to Reagan. He stopped enforcing the antitrust laws that allowed huge monopolies to flourish and did away with the mom and pop stores and businesses that kept little towns and rural communities afloat.

Since Clinton was POTUS, the date o this speech (103rd Congress)…Dems have. Had control of BOTH Houses 3 times….Republicans 7 times…..5 times the power was split…..
Dems have had control of the House 5 times…..Republicans controlled the House 11 times…..Dems and Repubbers have BOTH controlled the Senate 8 times…..
Dems have controlled the Presidency for going on 20 years and the Repubbers controlled it 12 years.
Clinton had a Dem Congress for 1 time of these 6 years….he had Republican majorities in both Houses for 2 of his 6 years….
Bush….Bush had a split Congress 1, a Dem congress 1 time ands a GOP congress 2 times…..
Obama had a Dem congress 1 time, a GOP congress 1 time and a split congress twice…..
Trump has a GOP congress 1 time and a split congress 1 time….
Now other the the Presidentcy, your numbers are completely out of whack…….The GOP has had ample opportunity to get things done…..but piss poor leadership and lack of ideas (other than tax cuts for the rick/wealthy) have been the down fall of Republicans……not Bill Clinton and democrats.

(And it was the truth)…..Clinton’s culpability was allowing NAFTA to pass….but NAFTA was a GOP / Reagan “wet dream” and Clinton endorsed NAFTA’s passage (Democratic congress) so he could get his adjustments (raising) to the Reagan Tax Cuts and “pay-go” passed resulting in balanced books for the USA……Clinton warned America countless times that “trickle down” would never work….and guess what….he was correct there too!
True we have had a “bunch of dems” since then……but we have had a bunch of Repubbers since then too…..and what have they done besides a couple of ill-advised tax cuts for the rich? Presidents can’t do much on their own….and not anything at all when it some to budgets…..it takes a willing and cooperative Congress and a smart and aggressive House of Reps, too. PLEASE…..let’s not blame “the messengers” here…….
Trickle-down economics CAN never work in a service-oriented economy.
Trickle UP economics is what is needed. You build a strong lower/middle class, capable of buying/consuming the goods and services that large companies want to sell them, and those companies will make lots of money moving goods and providing services to folks who can afford them.
The more money the middle/lower classes have to spend, the more money Wall St ends up taking in, in the long run. But that's inconsistent with the "quarterly" returns that WS needs to constantly push up. Most of them cannot think past a quarter or two of finances.
But it is just a partial answer…and not an honest answer to how America government works, jerkweed! Presidents only real “power” is EXECUTIVE ORDERS and those are temporary at best. It is an inaccurate use of numbers and he (and you) should know better.
It is just right wing bullshit, whiskey….and have taken it all in, hook, line and sinker.
