40 Day Target Boycott starts today

What did Target allegedly do?
Starting Wednesday, more than 100,000 people, many of them parishioners at Black churches, are pledging to abstain from shopping at Target, part of a 40-day nationwide boycott of the retail giant more than a month after the company abandoned its diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives.

The effort, led by prominent faith and civil rights leaders such as Pastor Jamal Bryant, includes Atlanta, Houston, Jacksonville, Florida and Alexandria, Virginia.

The “Target Fast” coincides with Lent and is the latest consumer action against one of the largest retail companies in the country. Since Target announced in January that it would roll back some of its DEI efforts, including plans to hire from underrepresented groups, consumer boycotts and demonstrations have sprung up across the country. Many occurred during Black History Month, and on Feb. 28, consumers participated in a 24-hour “economic blackout” of major corporate chains.

Seems like a reason to shop there, not boycott them.

Of all the people or companies to boycott or protest, they pick Target?

This sounds a bit like not voting for Harris because she’s not doing everything you want in Gaza.

How’d that turn out?

I don't shop for much of anything outside of groceries which are available at our corner grocery store so this is an easy one for me. My daughter on the other hand who considers herself very liberal says something to the effect of "from my cold dead hands"... In short, she's shopping at Target.

She might want to think about doing something to make a statement. She could give Target up for Lent like these folks are doing. Not really much of a sacrifice and if enough people got on board, it would send a small message to Target execs. Or maybe she's not as "very liberal" as she thinks.

Did Target state they were abandoning Title VII of the Civil Rights Act from 1964? If not, who gives a shit?

I ❤️ Costco
I like it as well. Good groceries and other products we use plus if you have the executive membership, you get paid back on your purchases which pays for the membership. Plus gas is less expensive, especially the 91/93 octane compared to street pricing.

Target, meh, never been a fan. It’s ok I guess.

I think she's thinking why Target. What have they done that is so aggregious that thousands of other companies large and small haven't done. You can get liberal and not agree with everything that a liberal organization proposes. That's the problem with this world today. Too many people have become robotic in their approach to things, losing the ability to think for themselves or see the world through a nuanced lens.

Or maybe she's just not as liberal as she thinks. 😉
