In a time of absolute boredom I thought it might be interesting to see who people saw as the hardest working Hawks.

I’ve got Garza as one.
After that I’m not sure. Reggie was a relentless rebounder, I liked Kevin Boyle and Glen “the stick” Vidnovic. May was a worker on D.

In a downtime it might be a good opportunity to recognize guys who just busted their tail for the Hawks. They don’t have to be stars.

I’m interested in your thoughts.

These are the guys that come to mind for me.

Garza
Settles
Street
BJ Armstrong
Ryan Bowen
Reggie Evans

To me it was obvious by their play on the floor that all of these guys, with the exception of BJ, played harder than anyone else when they were in the game.

I put BJ in that group because I distinctly remember that late in his career at Iowa (I think between his jr/sr year) he told the training staff that he wanted to be in elite shape.....he had a workout and nutrition plan that he put into practice. He was ready for his senior season with some ridicuolously low body fat and in incredible shape.....very disciplined along with being a hard working player.

Only seen JBo’s name once. 6’0 not overly athletic compared to other b10 pg’s. Been playing through injuries for most of his career. Don’t accomplish what he has without having an incredible work ethic.

Thanks. Keep it going. Plenty of Hawkeye memories in the names so far.

On the current, I'd rank them Garza, Joe T, CJ, CMac, Weezy. Weezy is last only because he makes it look so easy. A healthy JBo would be in there, too.

Where’s Andre Woolridge? He unofficially won B1G POY his senior year, yet supposedly didn’t have the talent to make it in the NBA (just like Garza in that regard). Have to think there’s an underrated hard-work factor in there. He was basically the team offense his senior year and carried the team with an equally hard-working Ryan Bowen.

Good discussion.......Dre might be my all time favorite player so I get where you are coming from. I guess "hardest working" is a little bit ambiguous so I took it as playing the hardest.....that maximum effort was central to their game and their success. That's why I listed the guys I did..with the caveat on BJ that I think that he worked the hardest in the off season to get himself into the shape that he did.

With Andre I think he was a very strong, very skilled, and very confident players. Not that he didn't play or work hard, just that the all out effort doesn't best describe his game...to me.
