Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese got everyone watching. Better buckle up.

Jesus, dude. Her father is black. Her grandparents are black.

This isn’t hard to figured out lol.
Once Joe's place digs in, he will never, ever, under any circumstances, admit he's wrong. I like him, but that is who he is. I submit for you consideration:

I'm actually not. But I've been called a troll for a year because I don't drink the kool-aide.
What Kool - aid do you refer too? They are now a team that has been to the Championship game and now going to a Final Four. No offense but they have achieved and met expectations.

The purported kool aid is that Iowans think it is okay when one of their own "trash talks" but not okay when another team's player "trash talks". Of course, the whole debate turns upon what constitutes "trash talk." Belem ostensibly believes it is normal trash talk, as a prevailing party, to follow the defeated around on the court and point to your ring finger and do the face wave thing. Others have pointed out that trash talking is jawing that occurs within the confines of the game and that what Angel did is simply being a poor winner. Thankfully, we won and this can all now just go away.

That's some old-school HORT there. Deep cut, and accurate.

I wake up and the argument has become what percent black someone is?
Clearly I missed a lot.
But you all have shown me the light. Other teams bad. Iowa good.

Mom looks pretty white.
Don't know if her Dad is black or Hispanic or other.

Blue eyes; maybe green.

Why is this so important to you? Others were just pointing out to Belem that Gabby is not just a "white" girl. I'll admit that I didn't know she was mixed race until her family picture was posted in this thread. I don't care what race she identifies as she's a dam good basketball player and I'm glad she's a Hawkeye!

Every time Joes Place does this it reminds me of the scene where Dragline just beats the fvck out of Luke. And every time Luke goes down, the other prisoners beg and plead with him to stay down. But Luke just keeps getting back up and Dragline just keeps beating his ass, until Dragline finally feels sorry for him and walks away.

Stay down, JP!

Gonna guess that seeing grandparents won't help your dumb ass out.

Yep. His "texting and driving is safe"...when he does it, was a classic.

No; that's a glance
No more than looking down at your climate controls or radio buttons.

You could practice at home and see that is is actually possible to operate your phone, albeit rather inefficiently, in ~1s glances. Give it a try sometime

Interesting,.. So apparently we've never had a black president then?...

It's not.

If she's AA, fine.
The blue eyes are recessive and extremely rare for AAs,
I think my favorite part of this thread is that JP is somehow able to discern the color of Gabbie’s eyes but not the color of her father’s skin.
which is why I'd presumed she was mixed race/Caucasian
She is mixed race. Her father is Black and her mother is white.

Sort of like Barack Obama. And Patrick Mahomes. And Mariah Carey. And Derek Jeter. And Rashida Jones. And many others.

Buddy, you are pushing the rock up against the wrong hill. Take it from me and stop. If Iowa wins it all, this place will be a non stop circle jerk. If Iowa loses, well then it's a referee issue and the results were already baked in. Either way you can't win. Just get out of the kayak, stay dry and watch this joint implode one way or another.
You seem to have a good life. Why go through any consternation here?
In football we say "win or lose, we still booze," so in this case I propose "win or lose, we still circle jerk."

So can someone tell me the rules of when waving makes someone a thug?

It was ok when Clark did it.
It was wrong when Reese did it.
But it's ok that Marshall did it.

At first glance it would seem that it's ok if and Iowa player does it and not when anyone else does it. Or is it ok when white girls do it?
Just trying to figure out when I should be outraged.
I'll take a shot at it.

First, a premise - you are correct that "our team" doing stuff is ok - other teams doing stuff is not.

But, CC did the "face wave" with her teammates in the huddle. AR did it in CC's face at the end of the game. Bias aside, I see a big difference in those two actions. One was just with her "girls", the other was trying to humiliate an opponent after a win.

Gabby did a quick, small wave good-bye. She didn't make a big show of it. She didn't follow AR to the bench waving at her.

BUT, you get to decide all by yourself when to get outraged! ;)

Me? I'm not outraged by any of it. Clearly it struck a nerve with many people here.
